Would buy it again in a heartbeat
The Talos Principle 2 Deluxe Edition includes the base game, the DLC "Road to Elysium" 3 chapters, digital artbook and soundtrack. I recommend this edition and would buy it again in a heartbeat. The base game is wonderful. It is pretty, vast, thought provoking. The DLC is pretty, vast and has the more difficult puzzles. The digital artbook is full of game art on 200+ pages.
I enjoyed the previous title (The Talos Principle) immensely, and especially its outstanding "Road to Gehenna" DLC. I regard both of them as among the best games I ever played.
I was happy to see the sequel finally coming to GOG a year after release and just completed my 1st playthrough (55h base game + combined 35h DLC). I took my time to enjoy the locations and read all of the things. In short, I loved my time in the game, it has great puzzles (albeit most on the easier side) and it is gorgeous in visual and audio presentation.
Yet, I think the previous title (The Talos Principle) was slightly superior in puzzle difficulty and certainly story. I did not like most things to do with Athena in this sequel (who dominates half of the game story and DLC).
Things I did like in particular:
- stellar voice-acting with a cast of interesting, endearing, diverse characters
- many diverse locations with distinct colors, climates, lighting, atmosphere, architecture (~ 18 base game, 3 DLC)
- many cool new mechanics, lots of puzzles (~175 in base game, ~80 in DLC), several fun meta-level puzzles
- many heartwarming homages to the previous title
- great UI
- expansive settings and scene/dialog skipping options
- photomode
- was much less annoyed by this sequel's new social theme in my physics-based single-player puzzle game than expected (most worried about this going in); dialog options are good
