Great game, but incomplete distribution

Maniac Mansion is a milestone of adventure game history. Its puzzles, comical characters and black-humorous story make the game be worth playing, although it passes 31 years from initial release. This GOG.com distribution includes both of two PC releases; the original version with 160x200 graphics and the enhanced version with 320x200 graphics. The original version has no problem --it is non-protection release. But the enhanced version is manual-protection release and the distribution does not include a document "Nuke'm Alarms Owner's Disarmament Quick Reference Guide" for solving the manual protection (security door at second floor). By default, the distribution launches the game on SCUMMVM, that disables the manual protection; the security door has already opened. But it disables not only the security door but also any other passcode-based locks. I think GOG.com should add the Nuke'm Alarms Quick Reference Guide to the distribution and change and enable us changing launcher into DOSBOX.

It is so good even in year 2018

If you only want Enhanced version (1989), you can buy Day of the Tentacle Remastered, which includes a full version of it. I myself prefer the Original version (1987). The game is super great, and is a milestone of video game history.

Classic

That is one of the greatest adventures I've ever played and also one of my first. it took me really long time to beat the game when I was 15 almost 20 years ago. You can choose 2 kids at the beginning - each one of them has different skills / only the surfer guy does not really do anything special/, every one of them has its own special things to do in the game no other kid can do which makes the game even more interesting and really great if you want to replay because you have different options. Note: Few years ago there was a fan made Deluxe version of the game that was free to play that looks waay better / just as good as the remastered version of the Day of the Tentacle I'd say/. The original site seems to be down but you can still find it easly on the internet !

Excellent

I love this game. It made me spend lots of fun hours in my childhood. There are many characters, and the game has different endings depending on which characters you have chosen. For those who don't know, if you purchase "Day of the tentacle", the "Maniac Mansion" is already included. Also, there's a remake on the Internet, called "Maniac Mansion Deluxe".

Still best adventure game of all times

This game is incredible. To this day, i am still amazed at how much innovation there was in this game. The fact that you could choose your starting characters, that each had different skills which could be used in different situations and that led to different solutions to problems...crazy! No other game has done that nearly as well, in my opinion. Add in the humor, the atmosphere (i still remember the sound of that clock!) and the fact that the poster included with the game had hints about the game... The only real downside nowadays is the graphics, of course. But that shouldn't stop you from playing one of the best games of all times, really. If you haven't played it, grab it asap!
