Worms 2

I grew up with Worms 2, and thus I still consider it to be the best version of the game. This is mostly due to the customization is still far greater than any Worms game that came later. But sadly, getting this game to run is not easy. If you still run a Windows XP, then there should be no problems starting the game as it is, but for the most of us that runs a more modern PC and have Windows 10 or 11 installed, you will need to install a patch. As of the wrtting of this review, I have tried the game (which is an 9 year old build based on the info Galaxy reports to me), and the game wont run as it. It will crash instantly, and sometimes EXPLORER.EXE will crash as well. There is a patch called "Worms 2 Plus" (it's on Github as "W2-plus") that I tried, and it gets the game to work (only attempted a quick player vs bot match). I tested it on a Windows 11 computer using Worms 2 Plys versions 1.5.7.3. I would have scored the game higher if it wasn't for the need to install 3rd party patches to get the game running.

Game is okay...no backflip for some reason is odd but a lot funnier to mess around with than Worms Armageddon, at leas out of the box. However, you WON'T have it running as-is 99% of the time. You'll need to download a workaround here: https://github.com/Carlmundo/W2-Plus

The game is only playable on the system I use (Windows 10 64-bit) thanks to the work of Carlmundo, creator of the "Worms 2 Plus" fan patch. Thanks man, you're the best! It's still not the full Worms 2 experience, you won't see the videos in-game etc, only from the frontend onwards. GOG is selling the game anyway, working or not; which makes you wonder if it should be selling the game AT ALL, since the official support is zero. It's not the first time and I don't think it will be the last.

Well I got the game on sale for about $1.50 which was fantastic. Unfortunately no matter what compatibility modes I tried I was not able to get my game to work on my Win 7 Pro machine. I get a black screen like it's about to play the intro, and nothing happens. I have to open task manager and force close the application, it shows the gog video player process as having crashed. Aaand I can't get my Win XP virtual machine to work at the moment so I'm kinda screwed... hopefully there will be some sort of fix posted eh GoG? You guys do fantastic work, I'd love to see whatever bug is causing this to be fixed.

This is my first, and really first game for my PC. When i was a kid i got for my birthday a PC (200Mhz processor with 32MB RAM - later 64) and a game called WORMS 2. This game grew with me, i play with my friends all the time. For those who whine that does not have multiplayer....hey, what about 2 player on 1 screen? I mean at 1997 there wansnt so much multiplayer games, we play on one screen or one game split screen. I wont miss multy or lan...if i want to play i will call my friend/friends to come and we can play on one screen like old days. But ok, since this is the internet era...they could add multy or at least LAN. But overall i give 4 stars, it would be 5 if it had LAN or multy. Its a must buy game
