7th grade, at night, lights turned off, my god, an extraordinary experience. A true gem, a must. Clive Barker writes a story unmached, a gem during a time when games were made from passion, with attitude and guts. Fantastic work, congratioulations to the team that worked on this. Everything is up to date to run on current machines. Thank you!
As the title says, the technical enhancements are not too bad. Whil the original still runs well on modern machines, the added widescreen n other stuff like cancelling cutscenes or proper subtitles is definately welcome.
The gameplay stuff on the other hand... was a good decision to make that optional... simply a total breakdown, stay away from it. Makes a lot of the problems of the original with collision/hit detection and homing jump attacks etc, even worse instead of fixing it. Same for balancing, now just different stuff is useless and op. Not better, just different.
The game looks stunning. Graphics are pure joy, the mouse runs smoothly, and everything looks like it's being remastered. Levels are beautiful.
What ruins it is the gameplay, which is way too complicated. Wolfies can now jump much higher, and the Nightmare is beyond heavy. Normal looks like a stronger Nightmare than in the original. It really ruins the joy as you can't fight wolfies because they are jumping too long.
Please make gameplay the same as the original, with enemies behaving the same way as in the original, not being stronger or crazier.
Then, this will be clean 10/10.
edit
The Howler jump is now normalized, but only in Easy and Medium modes, not in Nightmare. Is there a chance to make the Howler jump normal in Nightmare, too? The game is too easy on Medium and unbearable on Nightmare because of Howlers that jump too far, making the game horribly hard. Thank you
This literally updates the game to the way I "remember" it being in my mind. The graphics and widescreen work great, the new HUD feels so much more modern and slim. The game itself is a masterpiece, and this makes it SO easy to pick back up!
