In Total War: MEDIEVAL II, you were only given a tantalizing glimpse of South America, but in Kingdoms, vast tracts of land in both North and South America have been opened up for you to conquer. All-new factions from the New World are also now fully playable, including the Aztecs, Apaches, and Mayans.
Along with the new maps in the Britannia, Teutonic, Crusades, and New World Campaigns, there are 13 new factions to play, over 110 units to control, and 50 building types, adding up to 80 hours of new gameplay. Kingdoms also offers new multiplayer maps and hotseat multiplayer, a first for the Total War series, allowing you to play one-versus-one campaign games on the same computer.

This game is PEAK Total War!!!
One of the best RTTs in the market! If only CA made TW games like this one again, while actually adding to the expirience instead of taking, like the post-Rome 2 games... The expirience is immaculate. The thunderous sound of gun fire, the rumbling of horses... Everything is perfect, and it's only rivaled by Shogun 2! Do NOT sleep on this masterpiece! Once you are done with the main game and the expantions you have an enormous modding community still well alive as of me writing this review!

"Just one more turn..."
Total War: Medieval 2 was my first 4X strategy game that I got into with around 500 hours all up over the years. For the time and even now, it's a dense title with a huge amount of content that only gets busier if you start trying out mods ala Stainless Steel, Game of Thrones and Warhammer. In hindsight, M2 is largely an overhaul of Total War: Rome which had only came out 2 years prior: Same controls, largely the same map, and similar issues in diplomacy and the AI becoming too easy to beat unless maxing the difficulty. But its the range of factions, units, events and strategic choices that makes replaying a campaign so addicting. Each faction offers unique units, opportunities to expand and challenges such as the Mongol invasion, Crusades, Jihads, the Black Plague and the introduction of Gunpowder units that can upend or facilitate your plans. I thoroughly enjoyed sending plague afflicted spies into enemy cities to start an outbreak, building a heap of cathedrals to turn my priest into the Pope to initiate crusades and then dominating the Near East as Turkey and fighting and winning a two front war. I can't comment on how well the GOG version performs, I do know that the steam version performed well for me on both Windows 7 and 10 but i can definitely say its a worthy addition to any RTS players catalogue almost 20 years later

Total War GOAT
Still think this is the best Total War title to date. Yes, it has issues. What game this complex doesn't. But it is still one of the greatest strategy games out there. The real time battles reward tactical thinking to pull off victories that first seem unwinable. Great fun, eats time, get it, play it, love it.
