Total Chaos is a total conversion mod for Doom II that runs on the UZDoom source port.

 

The mod is a survival horror set on a remote island known as Fort Oasis.

 

The island was once run by a community of coal miners which one day suddenly disappeared, leaving behind the abandoned concrete jungle to waste away.

 

Something, clearly, has gone very wrong with this place. Upon your arrival at Fort Oasis, you receive a strange radio transmission. Someone wants to he found. The further you travel into the concrete jungle, the more the situation ends up unraveling, and where you were heading is no longer clear. Find letters scattered around the world and uncover the mystery of what happened.

 

Survive in 9 chapters

Explore the island of Fort Oasis in 9 chapters. In these chapters you will fight through apartments, utility tunnels, shopping centers, before reaching the city center and the mines that await you.

 

Fight against horrifying fiends

In every chapter, you will encounter new and even more horrifying creations. Each one processing their own unique attack patterns. Learning these is vital to surviving the oncoming onslaught.

 

Dispatch of them with a large assortment of weapons

Use anything you can find on the island to fight against the forces of evil. There are guns, but ammo for them is incredibly hard to come by. You will mostly be relying on tireirons, pickaxes, shivs and garden tools. Most of these can be crafted and some can be upgraded to wield more powerful blows.

 

 

The mod with the assistance of the source ports introduces many new graphical features, including 3D models and high resolution textures.

'Doom 2': REALLY?!

Taken on it's own merit -- incredible -- this mod looks and plays more like Doom 3; and I thought someone must have made a mistake, it looks as good as the screenshots here, and plays in a modern style so well. But it DOES, and is based on Doom 2 with a sourceport built-in: AWESOME... I never played or heard of it until it came here, and I think is further support of GOG for 'Preservation' these days of some games we have never played before: Happy to find this! Finally, this reminds me of some good and recent indie titles too, so much, I wonder if they were inspired by this first. So, it is as tough as the genre can be; do not expect Doom as you Know it -- and I am still learning myself, but VERY impressed: another GREAT mod here! :-)

Absolute black magic

The fact that this is running on the Doom 2 engine is truly something else. The dev is either INCREDIBLY talented or they sold their soul to the devil in order to work some black magic with a 30 year old game engine to run something as "modern" as this. Gameplay: It's plays like classic survival horror games of yersteryear (that thankfully have made a comeback in recent years) but mixed in with some modern survival game mechanics sprinkled in. You get a backpack with weight encumbrance, crafting, health/ammo management and weapon durability you'll have to worry about on top of some wild Silent Hill-esque monstrosities to fight or avoid. Graphics: Very good considering it's running on a 30 year old game engine. Performance: This may have been updated/fixed since I played last (couple years ago) but it defintely chugged and stuttered at times and it seems like it's pretty PC spec intensive with how loud this TC made my fan run. It wasn't terrible at all or close to unplayable though.

A genuine all-timer

The DOOM mapping and modding scene has produced no shortage of incredible experiences over the last thirty-odd years — but this is one of the few I can say that I’ve still found myself regularly thinking about, years after I first played it. Just an absolute masterclass in grim atmosphere and tension
