An amazing game in it's own way

Okay. When I first saw this game, I immediately knew that I will buy it when it gets released. I held myself to my word and I have a really positive opinion about it. I have read the negative comments before and while I cannot deny them completely, I will make them clear. A lot of people are complaining about not being accurate. Well, this may be right, but basically there aren't written sources about slavic mythology and folklore, so this complaint is completely irrelevant, because there is a good chance that we'll never know the truth. On the contrary, the game has an very beautiful world and a touching story, and I enjoyed every second of it. The only "sin" of the developers is that they wanted to create something beautiful, and in my opinion is that I haven't seen anything as beautiful as this game, in the last couple of years, and in conclusion, as long as I live, this game will have a place on all of my computers.

Some good narrative, a lot of padding

Let's start with the pros. There is some interesting mythology and good music in here. The art is well done, and the English voice actors are decent. The non-sequential story holds together well and gives a pleasant sense of pieces oming together. The game does deliver on the time travel premise, with you moving forward and backward several times to adjust the past or future and see the change propagate forwards. Now the cons. First, this game is very easy. The only time I've ever been troubled on a puzzle (there are perhaps four of them) was when I forgot to look at both sides of a piece of paper. Other than that, you're just following clearly-written directions to do things. Second, this game is HEAVILY padded. It doesn't look that way at the start, but (almost exactly two hours in) you realize just how many long, empty stretches of map there are and how many times the game forces you to run all the way to the end of one, pick up an object, then run all the way back to the other end, put the object down, then run all the way back again. For instance, at one point an old man walks across the map. You follow him. He says he forgot his walking stick and drops the key to his house. You walk all the way back, get the walking stick. He continues on. That's the whole sequence-- no story, no puzzle, absolutely no reason for that to be there except to pad out the play time. Add in a few intentionally awkward design choices (like the map, which is not to scale, only shows some trails, and has no player position marker or facing), and the game drags on... My playtime was just a bit under six hours, but I'd estimate that only about 2-3 of those hours were actual content or gameplay. The rest was walking back... and forth... and back... and forth... Thirdly, there are no choices in this game. You will REALLY feel that several times (char actions silly or destructive). It's not worth the asking price.

A charming story

A very nice walking simulator. The visuals are well made, I liked the writing as well. The puzzles not hard. The story is not linear, it comes together from many pieces, I enjoyed that.

Took no time at all to finish, English voice acting is just awful, get it on sale at the very least, not bad but only good if youre into Slavic mythos.

Historically Inaccurate Fakelore

I have followed the game's development for quite a while and having played the game's original demo it looked like it would be an amazing depiction of Slavic traditions and culture, boy was I wrong, but we will start with the good parts. Pros: -Beautiful graphics with a well made world with a nice atmosphere -Sound design of the game is absolutely excellent with an amazing soundtrack -Enjoyable gameplay and puzzles Cons: -Made up religious beliefs and traditions that have no historical attestation and seem to originate from the "Book of Veles" which is a proven falsification -Usage of symbols that aren't historically attested to have been used by Slavs, and also using symbols that are modern creations (symbol of Veles), also using the inappropriate version of the "Othala" as the game uses the Non-Friendly German variant instead of the historical Slavic one, nor is it the Nordic Othala -Overusage of the Kolovrat, which while historically attested, is not as historically common as the game makes it out to be and other symbols were much more common -Inaccurate clothes which make the characters look like they're partaking in some form of cheap LARP of medieval Slavs -Inaccurate naming of characters - the game uses the name "Samodiva/Wiła" for an undead water spirit, this is known as a "Rusalka" in all folklore while a "Samodiva" is a forest spirit, but the developer chose to go with the chosen name as he seems to not be versed in the folklore when I asked him about this on a forum. -Depictions of spirits such as the "Leszy" seem to be based more on existing media rather than folklore as the Leszy looks like he came out of The Witcher 3 -Aryan Slavs? The game has only a handful of characters appearing. 4 out of 5 of these characters have blonde hair and one has black hair, and 4 out of 5 characters have blue eyes, while the 5th has green. Overall, I would give this game a 1/10 for accuracy but a 9/10 for gameplay, music, etc.
