Great story based anomaly game
4.5/5 ✩ 7.5/10
Great story based anomaly game from a solo dev.
As with his other game, both are well done and different and memorable within their tags and I enjoyed them both.
This one has a great combination of anomaly hunting and jump scares, told throughout via the story of the game.
I love anomaly games, its one of my favorite type of games to play.
This one is different than most in the way that it is very story focused and the anomalies are tied to what is happening in that story, told by the husband.
So be sure to pay attention to this along the way, it is more than just memorizing and spotting what is different.
And as this is an anomaly game that means, in case you are new to this genre, that yes its about doing the same again and again while trying to spot what is different each time and testing your memorizing skills.
This one has horror aspects and jumpscares to go along with it all; just going up the stairs puffing up your chest in preperation in case you missed one was great lol.
But if you find these things boring perhaps this is not meant for you.
The story is good but sad, the voice acting is good, and the visuals are good.
But the best is the type and style of the anomalies.
I love the way they are made with the animations when you snap the picture, and tie into the story. This is what sets this apart from others Ive played, because of the tragic story and glimpse into his life and what happened which you hear more about when you find each anomaly.
This is an 'almost hidden gem' within the anomaly genre, I just really loved how he made it all tie in with the story told throughout and he manage to capture a certain atmosphere in both his games that are memorable to me. And that mannequin and its squiky sounds like its right behind you, it looks and sounds awesome and was scary!
I loved that it initially had the 18th 'th' flipped in the game image, to cleverly add in the anomaly tag for keen eyes to spot. Sadly too many thought this was just a bug lol so it was changed back. I loved that detail tho, wish he had kept it:)
The only bad to mention is that I wish you could run a little faster than you did, and that the subs on normal worked as the voiceover can be very hard to hear sometimes.
And that the lvl you are at which is shown under the stairs was easier to see as I didnt spot this untill half my guide was finished which could have saved me a lot of time writing it down manually ;o

There is a guide on the forum with hints and screenshots to each anomaly and some tips and how to play it.
*
You can play this on normal and chase mode.
On chase mode you have the mannequin chasing you from a certain lvl and onwards. Look in its direction to freeze it.
The subtitles on normal does not currently work, and the voice overs are quite low sometimes, so following the story can be difficult on first playthroughs.
Either raise volume or do a chase run for the story if you have trouble hearing it on normal mode at first.
*
To see what lvl you are on, look up under the stairs going up. Its a bit dark there so can be easy to miss.
*
To refill the camera, a few extra cartridges on specific lvls can be found throughout the room. Click it twice in the inventory to combine with camera to insert it.
If you run out because you failed too many times you wont be able to report anomalies, loosing 40 health going up to the next lvl. Unless you are very lucky and a cartridge spawns on the next lvl to refill and carry on, its a replay from the last checkpoint.
*
It saves roughly every 10 lvls or so.
*
There are also a few healing potions on specific lvls you can pick up, you loose health if you get hit by one anomaly and when you guess wrong going up the stairs.
*
You loose sanity from certain jumpscares.
To regain sanity, pet your cat! Or just because you can.
*
A few anomalies needs specific positioning when you snap the picture or to be close enough to not be confused with others. If you are certain its an anomaly but it wont accept it, try changing the angle.
