Star Wars™ Empire at War: Gold Pack includes Star Wars™ Empire at War and the expansion pack Star Wars™ Empire at War: Forces of Corruption
Command or corrupt an entire galaxy in the definitive Star Wars™ strategy collection. It is a time of galactic civil war. Will you take up the reins of the Rebellion, assume control of the Empire, or rule the Star Wars Underworld?
Star Wars™ Empire at War From the lives of soldiers to the deaths of planets, you are the supreme galactic commander. It is a time of galactic civil war. Take up the reins of the Rebellion or assume control for the Empire. Whichever you choose, it will be up to YOU to steer your side to ultimate victory. Command everything from individual troops to starships and even the mighty Death Star as you execute campaigns on the ground, in space and across the galaxy. Forget tedious resource gathering – just jump straight into the heart of the action. You can even change Star Wars history! Every decision affects your next battle and every battle helps shape the fate of the galaxy.
Star Wars™ Empire at War: Forces of Corruption:
You’ve played the light side. You’ve played the dark side. Now play the corrupt side! As Tyber Zann you’ll stop at nothing to become the most notorious criminal leader since Jabba the Hutt. With all new tactics like piracy, kidnapping, racketeering and bribery, you can control the shadowy forces of corruption in your attempt to rule the Star Wars underworld. Don’t just control the galaxy…corrupt it!
Seems to be a great game but does not run properly on modern systems. Apparently the devs have been updating the Steam version and left the GOG version to rot.
Absolutely shameful.
I purchased this game and the original Empire at War game won't run. The expansion Forces of Corruption does work. I don't understand how part of a game works and another doesn't. I contacted support and they had me try several changes to my computer settings but nothing would fix the problem. So I asked for a refund for the game and they wouldn't give one. So I'm stuck with a game that only partially works. I would not recommend anyone purchase this version of the game because you don't know if it will fully work.
is hard to say, what's like.
Let's start with pros:
+ play as the Empire or the Rebells
+ strategy and real time play
+ planet and orbital game play
+ a lot of units and buldings and planets
Now the cons:
- old fashioned graphics (well its about 13 years old but could have been better)
- partly difficult handling
- a lot of bugs and game crashes
- crashes partly block the PC/Laptop so even the task-manager doesn't help, only chance is to log off and relogin into windows or restart windows
- a lot of lags that make the game almost unplayable
- auto fights mostly ending up in loosing the battles
Without the bugs, crashes and the lagging it is a good game but the way it is presented at the moment (02.01.2020) I can't recrommend it.
My suggestion save your money.
This game has some kickass mods to it. I love it, but I do wish ground battles were more like Hoth and Geonosis :/ Still 4 stars for the fact it has awesome space battles (who doesnt want to dominate with the DSII or SSDs?
As much as it pains me to write this review, I must first say the game is generally good. it is an RTS with both space and ground battles and it conatains a campaign that plays like 4X game set in the Star Wars universe. The 4X component is simplistic, the ground battle isn't that great, yet the highlight are the space battles. The game itself is better than the sum of its individual parts, leading to the creation of interesting and memorable moments. I'd recommend the game on its own in a heartbeat, especially to Star Wars fans.
However, do not buy the GOG version. This version is based off the disk version of the game, the one that Petroglyph stopped supporting in recent years instead focusing on the Steam version. Practically, the reason given is that they don't have the source code of the other versions. That means that this GOG release doesn't benefit from bug fixes, optimization for modern machines, and mod support found in the Steam one. These are all considerable downsides to be considered when judging this release.
