Spongebob with love
I was 12 years old when Battle for Bikini Bottom was released in 2003. In Brazil, the title only arrived in 2004, and I was looking forward to it, mainly due to the images and positive comments that the game had in the already longing game magazines. My favorite game genre has always been platform. After playing Super Mario 64, the 3D platforms also entered the hall of my preferences, so it was with this expectation that I put the Bikini Bottom DVD on my PS2 on a summer afternoon in 2004. I went crazy! At that time, I understood almost nothing in English (the game had no subtitles for Brazilian Portuguese), but it was so magical, it was like I was watching an episode of the series. The level design was brilliant. The environments were clearly made with great care, and the variety of scenarios was enormous. It was a game really made by people who loved SpongeBob. Regarding the gameplay, I was fully successful with all the elements that make a good 3D platform: collectibles, fluid movement, various areas to explore, different skills and small quests to be completed. The soundtrack, then, was extremely pleasant to be heard. I was really feeling like a resident of Bikini Bottom and, consequently, submerged in a colorful and fun sea. In addition to challenging difficulty and very creative battles against bosses, Battle for Bikinni Bottom was consecrated not only as the best game in the franchise to date, but as a memorable 3D platform. Almost 17 years later, the well-deserved remake of this classic came to life, and after just over four hours of playing it, I can safely say that the old classic is intact, but with even more beautiful visuals and new content that only they improve what was already a great joy for me. It is not the supreme of games on 3D platform, it has its defects (eventually the many colors can bother the view a little, for example), but it is a love letter for fans of the series and games of the genre, and it deserves have recognition.
