Great little game!

I'm a huge supporter of people knowing what they get before they buy it. If you know what you're getting before you spend your money then you don't have to worry about if you like it or not. That's why I like writing reviews. It helps people make decisions. It's not about griping about my complaints, it's telling others about my experiences. This is a great game if you are looking for these specific things: -A short game (maybe 3-4 hours depending on your puzzle solving skills) -A Lovecraftian game. (This game has many dark Lovecraftian themes... Ancient ruins, ancient underwater creatures, etc.) -Puzzle solving. (You possess creatures around you and use their skills to progress through the levels. They aren't super difficult, but creative for sure.) -Simple mechanics. (You're swimming... No difficult platforming. You can turn your headlamp on and off, possess creatures... That's it. -Excellent immersive sound effects and music. That's all I can think of. There's no bad to this game if you know what you're getting into. The game meets everything the page description says, so no reason to dock stars. I highly recommend this game.

Visually sumptuous but little else

Silt is breath-taking in its visual beauty, no question. The whole world design is immersive and stimulating to the senses. In that way it does compare to Limbo in terms of its visceral impact. But unlike Limbo, there is not much of a coherent story here, and even less in terms of gameplay mechanics. Yes, there's some fun techniques where you have to animate other sea creatures to solve puzzles. But none of the approach the realm of complexity or originality in other platformers. This is a game you play for the beauty and relaxation, not difficulty. It took me about 2.5 hrs to complete, and I never felt particularly frustrated or unsure of how to proceed (as long as I remembered to look for creature to possess). Definitely worth a playthrough if you enjoy artistic platformers (this one is a "swim" platformer), but get it on sale and don't expect the kind of brilliant ingenuity of some other recent titles.

Beautiful game

Stunning visually - reminds me of Limbo but with a lot more detail. Puzzles are fun, some easy then get trickier. General atmosphere haunting. Love it!

Beautiful Dark Underwater Exploration

This is a beautiful dark underwater exploration game and a must-buy if you like the underwater setting and think the screenshots are beautiful. It doesn't quite hit the heights of a game like Abzu - it's shorter, some of the puzzles are a bit obtuse, and the larger environments / bosses are breathtaking at times but rarely as much as you would wish they were. But overall, it runs smoothly and is a pleasure to play. Can't wait to see what the developers come up with next.

Great artstyle, good puzzles, no story?

Really well designed. The artstyle doesn't really remind of Limbo except for the color scheme. Reminded me more of Creaks, one of the prettiest puzzle games to look at i.m.o. It is a solid first game. Puzzles and the underwater world are both very imaginative. Where the game fails however is 1. being fun - it's often a rather dull game, at times slow, repetitive or overly simple. 2. Motivating the player. Why are you there, why do you do this or that. The game lacks any clear story or intrigue. It feels like you do random stuff for no real reason. I'm sure there is a hidden story if you study the backgrounds closely enough, but for me to do so as a player, I need to be a bit invested to begin with. A creator can't just expect the players to care without giving them any reason to care. I'd say give it a go during a sale and if you like puzzle games with nice art (this has really great art tbh) you will probably enjoy it. It probably won't become a favorite though. I hope that for the next game, the studio will try to include some story, intrigue or anything at all.
