Sable

This game wants to know who you are. Games so often put us into the role of a character with a destiny, a fate, a cosmic charge they cannot escape. This game just wants to know, "who are you?" A meditative soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast & a vast expanse of sun-bleached, moon-soaked desert wills itself to be occupied by your own exploratory answer to the central inquiry. Sable's journey of self-discovery isn't just hers, it's yours. Not only is the soundtrack excellent, but the non-musical ambient desert atmosphere sounds amazing. There is life all around you in the desert expanse of Midden. Listen. This game asks you to be patient, so please heed that. Slow down. Take your time. Think about the question. Accessibility: This game does not offer accessibility options at all. This is unfortunate as I would like as many people to play this game as possible but in its current state I'm not confident that vision impaired, colourblind, or physically impaired players could enjoy this game. Subtitles are not adjustable & keybinds are not editable in game. The artstyle itself is difficult to understand & I have unimpaired seeing. I hope eventually there will be a way for disabled gamers to enjoy Sable.

If you wanted to give it a go, it's possible now. You'll find bugs here and there, but it'll be mostly audio glitches or stuttering. Game also crashed twice during 15 hours it took me to complete it, but that's it. Other than that - Sable is beautiful game, full of ideas, relaxing and charming. It's open world made right: you have only one main goal and you can finish it fairly quickly, but you'll want to wait, until you visit every area and talk to every NPC. It's all about your freedom and game will remind you this over and over again. After seeing trailers and gameplays I knew I will like Sable and just waited with buying it until it's fixed to a playable state. And IMO - the playable state is now, old man.

I'm sick and tired of games being released in a near-broken state. Little graphical glitches in the skybox, annoying inventory resets on my equipped mask when restarting, occasional wonky camera controls jitters, sound drop-out issues-- all these little, minor details culminate in making this game very unplayable for me; it makes it un-immersive and frustrating. Frustrating, because I honestly like what is going on if the program would act right. Hopefully future updates will solve all these annoying bugs and the game will really then be able to open up to what user: styrsangre wrote. I agree with that user. However, I feel the game is a wonderful concept that comes literally this close to being a masterpiece, but falls short of that status. Not because of the bugs, but because of the almost-polished nature of the gameplay, controls, and story-telling. All-in-all, an amazing work for a first project. I look forward to their next game, and hope to witness a well-polished masterpiece then.

The game looks lovely, but the camera and controls are awful. There's no camera smoothing, so every bump that Sable runs or drives over causes the entire screen to shake violently, so after 20 minutes I was feeling nauseous. The graphics flicker and Z-fight, so even a pleasant scene turns into a flickering disco as they pop in and out. It's infortunate because I would really like to get into the game, but it just doesn't want me to.
