Description
Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs is an RPG full of challenging combat and exciting adventures. Create your party of distinct individuals and get to work! There's a lot to be done if you are to rebuild your kingdom.

Enjoy the beautiful hand-drawn graphics, lose yourself in the original orchestral soundtrack composed by Game Audio Factory (of Furi and the Endless series fame), and go adventuring in the untamed regions of the land of Ascalia!

Our hero, Kay of House Loren, quite unexpectedly inherits an old, debt-ridden kingdom of Ascalia. A quick trip to relieve the castle of valuables takes a new turn with an embarrassing incident that throws Kay and his siblings into the clutches of responsibility. Now, through some good old fashioned adventuring, Kay has to return his family seat to its former glory, help out his new subjects, and repay the kingdom’s massive debt.

Regalia: Of Men And Monarchs is a brand new RPG and a Kickstarter success. It was funded by gamers who, just like us, believe that we need to have more good tactical role-playing games. In the end, it was made to be everything we ourselves want from an honest RPG game.

So, will you defeat all the rats, bandits, monsters, and debt collectors? Or will your ruined kingdom fall into an even worse ruin? If you don’t succeed it will be the world’s first ruined ruin. And that’s just the worst.
  • Robust turn-based battles with varied objectives and lots of viable strategies
  • 6 various regions to explore, each filled with battles, adventures, bosses and more!
  • More than 20 unique characters to meet, recruit and befriend. Foster relationships and create the ultimate team of misfits!
  • All you need to be a successful king: town management, diplomacy, expeditions
  • A light-hearted story with tons of humour and a fair amount of epicness
  • Over 30 hours of gameplay
  • Huge replayability factor: you won’t discover all the content in just one playthrough
  • Craft new, powerful weapons
  • Beautiful graphics with hand-drawn 2D backgrounds
  • Orchestral soundtrack composed by Game Audio Factory (Endless Legend, Endless Space, Furi)
  • Professional English voice acting
  • Samurai dwarves!

Great game, and actually quite hard!

A great game that mixes childish humour in with an actually quite hard game where you can easily fail if you aren't expecting it. The dungeons are pretty hard, and the equipment and skills you get do help boost your characters up but not to OP levels. There are a few bugs however, many of the skill morphs don't actually work, and some of the text based side quests have infinite loops in :/ So it's great, but wait for a patch unless you can put up with them

The game is okay.

This is an okay game. The music is alright, the dialog is funny and the characters are quirky. The text adventure writing is good and some of the lore is actually interesting. The game doesn't beat you over the head with the lore either. Even if you don't pay that much attention you can still understand which faction people are talking about. The battles are boring tho. Every character slowly walks to the enemy and the animations are not good. This makes the battles feel slow with no drama. I feel no rush when fighting. Also, there is no job system. A characters role, skills, and equipment are static (with the exception of a few skill morphs). When new weapons are available you simply look at which one has better stats. No decisions deeper than bigger numbers. Same goes for the two trinkets you can equip. The whole party gains experience tho which is nice. Thankfully the game gives you the option to increase your parties damage to make battles a breeze so you can get back to the story.

Bugs gets the game so frstrating

The game deserves 5 stars, but the bugs make it so frustrating i just keep rage quitting. I don't want to bore people so i will just make an example: i obtained immunity from stunning. I spent time for it, and it simply doesn't work, Enemies keep stunning my character and i keep losing battles without being abke to do anything with my characters becouse they are costantly stunned. It's annoing and takes all the fun from the game.

What a pleasant surprise this was!

I bought this game out of the blue without any kind of the usual research. Yes, sometimes I go crazy and do shit like this, 90% of time it will result in a waste of money. Fortunately this time, it was a real luckshot. Pro: - overall really enjoyable storyline - with 35 hours playthrough and the nightmaremode to go through again, a very decent playtime for me - refreshing turn based combat with some real challenge Cons: - a few dialoges are just too ... uergh... - some mechanics are quite rudimentery, like diplomacy, building and crafting (becaue of the whole kickstarter thing I guess?) - oh my... what an annoying fihing minigame - really too many loading screes, while the time they need is short, you are forced to click your approval to every one of them... (makes the days you want to socialise click-tastic) - still some bugs inside, encountered two skill morphs which didn't work properly (which is a shame but no game breaker) But (!) before you buy you need to be aware of a few things: - there are timelimits, while they are relatively easy to achieve (unless you wander aimlessly around) that won't be for everyone - you need to actually think in the battles, a rare phenomena nowadays (often times blocking with obstacles and turnorder is pretty relevant) - there will be a RNG, but it is as in every game... sometimes it can be really frustrating but no there is no evil masterscheme behind you missing three times in a row with an 80% to hit

Good game but not quite to my liking

This took me just over 12 hours to complete and I had fun most of the time. I didn't expect there to be so many text adventure parts where you have to select your response from a number of options. I'm not into these so they were cumbersome for me to complete. Especially one where it was mandatory and failure results in "death" and you have to replay it. The checkpoint for this is just before a cutscene which cannot be skipped so this was the most frustrating experience for me. I did encounter small bugs here and there like entering a building and my character doesn't go where I click. This is fixed by re-entering the building. There is one major bug I encountered right at the end of the game. There is a cutscene which goes into the final battle. In between that, there is a loading screen which just kept loading and loading. I had to quit the game I play from the autosave file. The autosaves are quite regular so I didn't have to repeat too much of what I did. The gameplay is fine, but I felt like it was limiting and clunky in places. Before you leave town, you can only bring 6 characters with you. At the start of battle, you can only deploy a maximum of 4 characters. The maps are also very small. Another big thing I did not like is how random hits can be. An enemy character could have 4hp left but my next three attacks could miss. Also, I'm not a fan of having to walk into characters to talk to them and that the camera is fixed. There's a mini-game that let's you build up relationships with almost everyone you meet and it was fun-ish. I think there's a lot of mechanics at play here and there isn't any one that stuck out to me. The story was ok, I never really felt my character develop much until the penultimate act. But it doesn't really take itself seriously and it pokes fun at everything. I did lose interest in the story and found myself powering through the last chapter just to finish it. If you love strategy RPGs I'd recommend that you give it a try.
