Metro 2033 Redux

this game has wonderful graphics and story, overall it is a great shooter where imersion is the name of the game. this is the post nuclear war world design that Fallout and STALKER aspire to have. the soundtrack is there very orchestral and sometimes very mood inducing . the game has some dificulty spikes that are unecessary and some qtes that are a miss until you get it... but still a deep dive into the human hopes and fears in a world who doesn't want you there. 10/10

I have enjoyed when i finished this game on Steam many years ago but now.. after so many fps titles.. it does not look that great anymore: + the story is not bad, decent. + the graphics are ok and the sound is decent. but: - levels are awkward to navigate, the design is not fluent and you spend too much time in all those shades of gray to find the way.. - the elements that make the levels are poorly linked and tested. Expect to get stuck in different stairs and pieces of debris. - if you like annoying animations that lock you out of the fluency of a cool combat.. this game is for you.. - if you enjoy paying attention to 2,3,4 vocal dialogues in the same time..you are brilliant, this title is for you. I finished the game second time on GOG and i will never ever play this piece of junk again.

I don't really get it. 4.2 stars and a metacritic score of 90? This is a straight shooter with a nice atmosphere, yes. But that's about it. It is ridiculously linear. Even old school call of duty's are open world games compared to this. Hell, even the first doom had way better level design. It's just one tunnel after another, without any other option than to shoot your way through. And if you do a little something the game does not want you to, it simply kills you right away. I played for like 5 hours and encountered 2 different enemies. Humans and mutated killer rats which all look and act the same. And weapon variety is also very limited, even with the kinda nice mod system. Altogether, it is very monotonous most of the time, and when it's not, it just frustrates the hell out of you. The problem is not the difficulty, but the game design itself. It is an okay shooter, but nothing more. The world is full of way better shooters than this. I really don't get the fuzz.
