MaSzyna is a simulator, which will allow you to become a train driver of most popular locomotives and multiple units used on the Polish railways.

 

 

Realism is our priority

Everything you can see or hear during the simulation was made with attention to detail. Nearly all 3D models of locomotives and carriages were prepared from high quality photo textures. Every sound you can hear was recorded in a real locomotive cab or on the train station. Physics are also very important - MaSzyna faithfully represents brake physics and traction characteristics of electric powertrains. Fictional maps are created in accordance with real world standards. MaSzyna also contains few accurately recreated real railways.

 

Simulation

You can drive more than 40 types of electric and diesel locomotives, many electric multiple units and others. In addition the simulator contains hundreds of locomotives and carriages liveries, almost all created from real photos. Explore about ~15 railway routes (including one real Polish railway line Częstochowa - Ozimek) in almost 200 scenarios. Random events are used in many scenarios, ensuring that any mission is never the same. Traffic is controlled accordingly with realistic railway signalling.

 

You can drive express trains with a maximum speed of 160 km/h or regional trains with many stops. You can also choose a freight train: a heavy train with 40 cars of coal or fast intermodal container train. The choice is yours!

 

 

Don't give up early!

Accurate brake systems, electric traction simulation and realistic signalling: all of that makes MaSzyna one of the most realistic train simulators available. Before performing the missions you should learn the rules used on the Polish railways (Ie-1), and consult the simulator manual on starting and driving of specific vehicle type.

Does MaSzyna have DRM?

No! GOG games have no DRM and can be played without an internet connection, totally offline. Some bonus content might require an internet connection to download, but we do our best to limit that need. Read more about DRM.

Do you need GOG Galaxy to play MaSzyna?

No! You do not need GOG Galaxy to play MaSzyna. GOG gives you the option to download a fully offline installer and install MaSzyna that way, without using GOG Galaxy. Train sim fans check this out

First of all look at the readme for the controls, they are pretty in depth. This game has been around since 2001 and it shows. The graphics are not great and somehow the install is over 80 gigs. It could really use an overhaul in a new engine. In spite of the flaws I am having a great time. The freight scenarios have a lot of variety and surpass anything you would find in a game like train sim world.

For (Polish) train enthusiasts only

This is not a game, this is purely a simulator. And only train enthusiasts will get some joy out of this "game". I remember installing this (18 or more) years ago, forgotten about it, and now it is here on GOG. I got some joy out of it, but... I now remember why I have forgotten about this game: It is highly complicated to get into, mostly because it is in the Polish languages; and is very poorly translated. A printout of the manual is somewhat required. Sadly, even after all those years I don't see any/much improvements(?). Everything I had experienced is still te same. Negatives: - Graphics are prehistoric and lacking - English translation is still lacking (and yes, you need the scenario description to know what to do and how to get started). - Installation size is ridiculous: >80 Gib - Buggy at times (slowdowns, signals not working, object clipping, cars driving trough objects etc.) Positive: - It is free, and focused on train simulation. - Made by and for train lovers - You can "waste" hours and hours driving trains So, is this a bad "game"? No, if you like the train simulations then this is a good free simulation game. If you however expect a beautiful 3D train-driving game, somewhat arcade-ish, with points or career mode, then yes..
