The remnants of human civilization are threatened by gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth. You must control powerful mechs from the future to hold off this alien threat. Each attempt to save the world presents a new randomly generated challenge in this turn-based strategy game from the makers of FTL.
  • Defend the Cities: Civilian buildings power your mechs. Defend them from the Vek and watch your fire!
  • Perfect Your Strategy: All enemy attacks are telegraphed in minimalistic, turn-based combat. Analyze your opponent's attack and come up with the perfect counter every turn.

Very polished, but short game

Good game and I'm giving it 5 stars because you get plenty for the price. It didn't really meet my initial expectations from the hype, though. It's a fun puzzle game, I really like that it's often more important to push or otherwise move enemies, instead of directly damaging them. But the overall content is a bit small. You're quicky through the game and even though it's kind of designed to be replayable, it didn't manage to motivate me enough to do so.

Excellent game, a must for FTL fans

Great game. Just like FTL is not a simple game you will hate to think hard to beat it. Be prepared to re-start from the starting point until you get it.

FTL-Challenge but more forgiving

The review title is not supposed to imply that the gameplay is like FTL. It is made by the same developers, though. When I say that it has the same sort of challenge, I mean that Into the Breach offers the players the same tactics-focused edge-of-your-seat experience as does FTL. The game revolves around short bite-sized battles on a small tile-based map. Your goal? Take your three mechs and protect the civilian buildings. The game is more forgiving, in that every playthrough can be shorter than in FTL. There is also an easy mode, which FTL only received after a couple of patches, if I recall correctly. I love the game. It is very thoroughly polished and if there is one thing i would have to criticise it's that the pixel-art, while pretty, might be a little too plain for some people. Go play it. It is worth every penny.
