Hail to the Rainbow was an absolute blast; a well-crafted, single-developer achievement that may put some AAA studios to shame. I remember its perfect optimization, great narrative, gorgeous aesthetic and visuals, and beautifully cohesive art direction, which created a rich post-apocalyptic atmosphere that blends story, scares, music, and audio into something memorable. While linear, exploration remains rewarding, featuring clever puzzles and a consistently engaging pacing that kept me captivated throughout. Difficulty felt fair throughout, with bosses that could be challenging at first but always came down to discovering the right trick or mechanic, making each encounter satisfying rather than frustrating. Overall, it was an indie masterpiece for me.

Description

The story of a lonely young man named Ignat, who survives in the dangerous and gloomy world of post-apocalyptic cyberpunk. The few survivors of the tragic military events had to adapt to the new conditions of existence. Ignat, who lost his parents, was able to build his life alone and learned a lot in this new reality.

However, the life of the protagonist, which has already become familiar in a few years, changes dramatically when an unexpected message arrives by e-mail.

 

"Hail to the Rainbow" is a first-person story-driven adventure game with horror and shooter elements. In the universe of the game, you will face the dangers of a new reality, immerse yourself in the secrets of the surrounding chaos, and also relive the memories and moral torment of the protagonist. Excellent exploration - action game

This is a very strong effort from a solo developer, it immerses you in a voyage of discovery and growth of a young man looking for his father in a post apocalyptic world. Sense of immersion is very strong throughout the game even if some action sequences distract a bit, as they are not completely easy. The developer mentions the use of AI for robotic voices, which could be seen as fitting, and for some minor graphic elements, which I think should be the pictures on the wall, so it could be acceptable for a game that's made by a single person. You can try it without hesitation, I played it in the original language and it pulled me in, its quality surprised me.

Hail to the Rainbow quality indie games

What is this game? I don't know it. Thanks GOG for this new discovery, and in french subtitles! Thanks to the team and Sergey Noskov. I don't want this game to end So far, it's incredible, I'm giving it 4 stars but it's not finished After that, I urgently want to see Still Wakes the Deep arrive on the platform.

Immersive and fun with some rough edges

I've had a great time with this game. The visuals are great, the setting is interesting, it runs super smoothly and is generally a great experience. The combat feels a bit strange and is not the strong point of this game. It's the exploration, sound and music. It reminded me a bit of the Metro series with the driving reminiscent of something like Kona. The horror elements were great as it was never too much to handle (I'm not a horror game type of person). I was not a big fan of some of the flashback sections, but overall it was very fun and I'm definitely going to play it again some day.
