Every season has its own story, and it can sometimes be extremely intense. There's so much to experience. It's sometimes a real roller coaster ride. For me, this makes racing feel truly intense and immersive — it’s like you’re right there in the thick of it. We need this masterpiece on GOG!

Does Golden Lap have DRM?

Golden Lap

A bit more casual than "Motorsport Manager", but gives as much fun. Clear graphics, good music. Oh, and there were three fatalities in my first race!

Pure Gem

Simpler but absolutely great motosport manager. Great storytelling and lots of fun and sometimes frustration when things go wrong :D You have to deal with like in real motorsports.

Fun overall but needs more balancing

It's a fun game overall, like a lighter and humorous version of Motorsport Manager. It's very addictive, where you just need to play one more turn. My issue is that it feels rather unbalanced in certain scenarios, as is to be expected of a game that relies so heavily on RNG perhaps. For example, starting as one of the lowest ranking teams is rather pointless, you just can't earn enough points or money to get better, you're in limbo with no sense of progress from season to season. It needs more sponsorship missions, more ways to earn money. Each race is also quite random and counterintuitive (if you are familiar with real-world racing), so that being rational or logical doesn't really work. So don't think too much. In contrast, with Motorsport Manager I felt there was some real-world racing logic behind it, it felt like a serious simulation game. Golden Lap is thus not a contender to Motorsport Manager in the sim-realm. However that is probably not its intention either, as a causal not-so-serious racing management game with a dash of humour. And regardless, it does still feel like a passion project, by people who obviously know a thing or two about the history of racing, most notably F1. This too has value. There's a lot that I liked: the art style, the humour, the sound effects, the overall mechanics, that it runs really well, and is very easy to get into and learn. Complaints aside, I still enjoy the game for what it is. There are extremely few games like this around, so if you find one that's OK, fun but with a couple of issues, it's worth checking out in my opinion.
