Better than Netflix sitcoms
I'm 33 and this was the first video game I bought since 1998. I got this because I recently read and intriguing story about firewatch towers and this story-based game seemed like a good way to explore that world. Some say they only needed four hours to wander through; I think I spent more than 12. Regarding system requirements: I took a leap of faith with a HP Envy 14 Spectre (i5-3317U, 1,70GHz, 4 GB, Intel HD4000 + 128 GB SSD) and to my surprise the game performed sufficiently well with graphics in High-setting. FPS rate was borderline acceptable. The game feels more like a movie where the viewers do the walking - in other words, there wasn't all that much freedom or sovereignty to try things. The landscape is gorgeous and there are plenty of objects and cues scattered around for the player to build theories in his/her own. The voice on the radio was the central attraction of the game, I just wish that the radio chatter would've been there to keep the player entertained also when the player got stuck. At some point the game reminded me of my adolescent frustration with late 90s video games: pacing back and forth all over the map trying to find some crucial artifact in order to proceed in the story. Walking here, there, in and out, ad nauseam, isn't this any better than Duke Nukem 3D? Some say Firewatch was too short and fell flat in the end; I found the length to be most suitable. The ending left me somewhat unfulfilled. Also, the overall storyline painted the protagonist as a bit of a dimwit... as if the game developers tried on purpose to emasculate him, as it were. I didn't particularly enjoy that aspect. To summarize, this was a fun little adventure that didn't require much gaming experience and hence very suitable for people who aren't "gamers" and who are bored with same old Netflix sitcoms and are looking for an alternative way to spend a few nights. I'll award this effort to four stars; twenty dollars for recreation calls for a good creation.

Very good game, but VERY short.
Interesting story, stilysh graphics, good narrating voices. OST also good, pity we don't have it here on GOG.

What an Experience!
This may have bee n one of the best games i've played in years! The atmosphere of the game is just so intense that i was glued to the screen for the time i played it. The Sound and Visual design of Firewatch is just beautiful. I'm extremely sad that i already played trough it all... I would have liked a bit more content. I very much hope they do a sequel sometime. This isn't a game, it's an experience.
