Description

Enter the Chronosphere is a roguelike shooter that combines turn-based tactics and real time action. Follow the crew of the Starseer as they combat a galactic threat: giant spheres that are consuming reality itself. Fight to the center of procedurally generated chronospheres, unlocking new characters, alien weapons and powerful synergies.

Time is on your side

A bullet hell shooter that gives you time to plan your next move.
Between each turn, bullets hang in mid-air and enemies are frozen. When you move, so does everything else. Alternate between bold action and careful planning. Dodge through a field of bullets, reload your shotgun, knock enemies into pits, call an artillery strike, or heal up just before you get hit in the face.

Exotic equipment

Mix weapons, gear and gadgets from different worlds to create powerful builds. Incinerate enemies from afar with sweeping lasers, fire your shotgun around a corner with bouncing bullets, modify your chainsaw to implant alien eggs, and then detonate your hatched minions like living bombs.

They eat ‘em, you beat ‘em

Every chronosphere contains biomes from the worlds it has consumed, each with its own enemies, objectives and gear. Choose a chronosphere to run. Retrieve coordinates from a bug-infested hellsphere, unlock a shiny new six-shooter in the wild west, or take on the smallest sphere (because you’re really meant to be working).
The rules of physics melt inside a chronosphere: anticipate distortions, mutations, and plunderable paradoxes. Do you stabilize your wounds, or your reality? The deeper you go, the weirder it gets.

Aboard the Starseer

From the “comfort” of their starship home, our heroes pursue the galaxy’s greatest threat: The mysterious chronospheres. Unlock new characters with alien skills and stories. Complete missions to learn new abilities or to expand the game with new threats and challenges. Conquer special chronospheres for massive rewards. Listen to the crew argue over whose turn it is to do the dishes.

Great Fun

One of the best, if not the best, roguelikes I played this year. The game allows us to combine the unique combat of Super Hot with a top-view bullet hell. The enormous plethora of weapons can keep you hooked for a very long time. And the unique combinations that you can create make my brain tickle, a spinning saw that grants you the ability to traverse larger distances every time you attack with a sniper rifle that allows you to snipe problematic enemies. The soundtrack is quite unique and reminds me of Sludge Life; the graphics follow that trend, showing us some surreal level and enemy design, that keeps it unique and fresh by giving it a personality. Speaking about the enemies, they are quite well designed. From small grenadier-type creatures that will keep you from staying in one place to MG42 enjoyers that will make you pray that you have enough movement range to escape the damage. To Chainsaw Man fans having only one thing in mind: find you and delete you. The crew of our ship is nice, especially in the codex, where they will leave us with a small laugh or a question about their sanity (ekhem, Lillypilly). The gameplay changes based on characters from our nimble human, tank bear, and psycho lizard-toad, with nothing keeping us from creating wacky and fun builds. Overall, a VERY FUN game for basically no price, not to mention that the content available will keep you busy for hours and the early access means that we will get more juicy content down the line.

This would be a contender 4 GOTY...

I've obviously not finished the game yet, but as an early impression this game is ridiculously cool. I personally love the art style and color pallet, though I realize they are not for everyone. Luckily what you see is what you get, if you look at the screen shots and art and it grabs ya, that's what you are getting. It's a true rouge like in that every action is actually a turn and it always goes your turn, their turn. I personally like that, and here they are throwing in some bullet hell elements that I think really work. You can take your time with each individual action and play it as a very slow stop motion kind of game. But, you can also hole your buttons and do it fast almost like it's in real time because it basically is if you input the commands fast enough. You'll unlock different characters that have different abilities and traits. In that it vaguely reminds me of Azure Dreams where you got to use different monsters with different attacks and stats. Watch a video, if it seems interesting, you'll probably like it. This would be in the running for game of the year for me if I would allow early access that privilege. This is worth the price of admission. In fact, I bought this elsewhere because for some reason GOG kept saying the game was not compatible with my version of windows. But I keep checking on it assuming it was a glitch. Still, got it elsewhere and played it and when the glitch went away, I was happy to get again here too to support the devs. I think this is that cool. It's not for everyone, but the people it is made for, are really going to dig it.
