Electro Man
Players' stories
This was one of my first PC games. Very fun and addictive. I've played even the 'Electro Body' (early version of the game). The game difficulty was insanely hard on later levels. AFAIK, it is free now and has been recompiled to be optimized for DosBox, and runs perfect from it. You can easily find this version on the Internet. Honestly, I don't understand, why it's still missing from GOG, it would be convenient to have this game in the library.
Along with Stunts, Prince of Persia and Wings of Fury, Electro Body (old name) was on of the first games I've ever played, back when I didn't even have Windows OS. I still remember exiting the game each time I've reached a new save point and copying the save file with a new name into a dedicated folder, just to have a save for each point in the game - a trick my cousin came up with. The game also had a fun way to check if you're playing the original version - each time you boot it up, it'd ask for a specific word found on page X, verse Y and position Z in the game manual's game backstory section. It's an awesome polish game, a solid platformer that deserves to be immortalized.
This game holds a special place in my memory as the very first game i ever played on the PC, a humble Intel Pentium 166Mhz with just 16MB ram. Those were the days when every level felt like an adventure, unfortunately i remember being stuck on level 8 and did not got to finish it.

Description

It's just you against an entire alien base... and they've used every trick in the book!

After drifting off to sleep late one night at the planetary base, Jacek woke to discover that his unit had lost all its power. Climbing the darkened stairway, he discovered that alien beings had invaded the base and killed all the humans – including his wife and children! Only his friend Placek remained, and together they escaped for another planet.

Now it is time for revenge. Using all his insurance money, Jacek underwent many costly operations giving him superhuman strength and senses. He armed himself with weapons and set out for the conquered station. What Jacek does not know is that the aliens have now rebuilt the station with numerous security systems designed to keep him out. Can you help our hero?

Make your way through eight dangerous levels, finding the three special electronic circuits that allow you to transport to the next level. And that is only the beginning. Along the way, try to escape automatic cannons and barriers, hundreds of mines, missile launchers (they react solely to humans), and powerful defensive robots. Most important, keep our hero's gun charged up by finding energy along the hazardous corridors.

Good luck! You and Jacek are going to need it.

Great game, great memories

Ported it myself to Linux. GOG, it's not that hard, release a Linux native version, don't be shy.

BODY > MAN, but still

I spent countless hours playing ELECTRO BODY as a kid, and even though I've never managed to finish even the second level, immeasurable fun was had. ELECTRO MAN is a later re-release by Epic MegaGames - it is largely the same game, although the modified graphics look off to me. Still, a classic definitely worth checking out!

Charming but frustrating

It has its charm as a simple 2D action game but ultimately, it is designed to frustrate rather than entertain the player. The overly large maze-like levels filled with traps and enemies require lots of backtracking and even with checkpoints, the punishing 1-hit death forces the game to become dull and repetitive. The art style is crisp and clear and the sound bites are humorous, but overall, the fixed jumping mechanic and many blind jumps was a step too far.
