BUILT ON PLAYER FEEDBACK

Echoes of the End: Enhanced Edition is a free update to the 2025 fantasy action-adventure game, born from the passion and feedback of our players. As a small studio devoted to making the best game we can, we’ve poured everything into listening, improving, and expanding on our creation, transforming Echoes of the End into the experience we always dreamed it could be.

This update refines nearly every aspect of the game: overhauled combat, reworked animations, equipment customization, new difficulty modes, New Game , pacing improvements, and much more, with every change and addition shaped by our interactions with the community since the game launched.

Combat Overhaul & Refined Animations

Combat has received a massive overhaul. Nearly every animation has been retimed or redone, with smoother transitions, improved input buffering, refined lock-on, more responsive animation cancelling, and greatly enhanced hit feedback that makes every strike feel sharper, heavier, and more satisfying.

New Equipment System

The Enhanced Edition introduces a brand new equipment system to the game, with 13 different outfits that can be unlocked for Ryn. Each outfit can be fitted with a variety of relics, powerful items that let you tailor Ryn’s stats and abilities to your preferred playstyle or experiment with new builds.

New Difficulty & NG Mode

A new difficulty mode, Journey, offers a more balanced experience for most players. After completing the game once, you can now start over with New Game , carrying over all your abilities, relics, and outfits, and face off against elite enemies with powerful new abilities that provide a fresh challenge for returning players.

Refined Pacing & Early Game

The entire first chapter has been reworked both visually and mechanically. New voice lines, improved performance across all hardware, and streamlined tutorials and interactions make for a faster, smoother experience. Some of Ryn’s most powerful and engaging abilities can now be unlocked faster, and the new outfits and relics system makes progression more rewarding from the very beginning.

Improved Locomotion and Controller Experience

Ryn’s movement has been massively refined to feel more grounded, fluid, and responsive. Nearly all animations have been retimed or updated, including new facial performances for certain attacks and an improved controller experience with better haptics and button bindings.

And SO MUCH MORE.

Embark on the Journey of a Lifetime

In Echoes of the End, you play as Ryn, a powerful vestige born with an affinity for what remains of an ancient magic. When her brother is captured and war threatens to engulf her homeland, Ryn must rise to defend it before it’s consumed by conflict.

Alongside Abram, a seasoned scholar with a haunted past, she embarks on a journey that will test their newly forged bond, uncover buried secrets, and challenge what it truly means to wield power in a world on the brink of collapse.

A Broken World of Beauty and Conflict

The handcrafted world of Echoes of the End draws inspiration from the raw, untamed beauty of Iceland, a land where fire and ice coexist in striking contrast. Towering glaciers, ancient lava fields, and vast geothermal plains form the backbone of its landscapes, each shaped by nature’s elemental force. Traverse windswept valleys, descend into glowing volcanic depths, and uncover a realm filled with monsters, mysteries, and relics of a lost civilization where magic and machinery intertwine.

Master Combat with Sword and Magic

Combat in Echoes of the End is fast, deliberate, and brutal, blending precise swordplay with devastating vestige powers.

Chain heavy strikes, parries, and magical abilities with seamless grace before finishing off your opponents with visceral execution moves.

Use your magic to hurl enemies into each other, into environmental hazards, or off sheer cliffs. Drain their life to sustain yourself in the heat of battle, and unlock new abilities across four upgrade trees that let you tailor your approach to combat throughout your adventure.

Ryn is not alone. Her capable companion Abram fights alongside her, using his abilities to damage, stun, trip, and grab enemies, creating perfect openings for devastating follow-up attacks.

Your Story, Your Pace

Whether you’re here for the story or seeking a true challenge, Echoes of the End has something for everyone.

The new Journey difficulty strikes a balance between combat intensity and steady progression, making it the definitive way for newcomers to experience the game’s story, combat, and exploration.

Platforming and Puzzles: An Evolving Adventure

Puzzles and platforming are at the heart of Echoes of the End’s adventure. Every chapter introduces a distinct visual theme and unique puzzle mechanics, ensuring that no two areas feel alike, from ancient ruins powered by shifting energy to volcanic chambers with twisted gravity.

Solve intricate environmental challenges that blend logic, timing, and exploration, often requiring clever use of Ryn’s abilities to manipulate the world around her. Leap, dash, and double-jump your way through a breathtaking world as you develop a growing arsenal of magical traversal powers throughout the journey.

Customize, Evolve, and Master Your Power

Forge your own path through a progression system that rewards mastery and experimentation, with over 40 upgrades that enhance and expand Ryn’s arsenal of skills. Every choice defines how you fight, explore, and survive in this ever-evolving world.

Outfits and relics further shape Ryn’s strengths, allowing you to adapt your approach to combat with unique builds and strategies. Unlock 13 outfits to personalize Ryn’s appearance and discover more than 20 relics that dramatically alter the flow of encounters, letting you fine-tune your playstyle, from relentless offense to tactical precision.

Built Together With Players

Echoes of the End is created by a small, dedicated team who believe in delivering ambitious experiences. Every update, every animation, and every improvement is built by hand, funded by the studio’s own resources.

We’re not AAA, and that’s exactly why we can listen, adapt, and evolve faster. The Enhanced Edition is our promise to keep supporting the game and its players, to keep refining what we love, and to prove that a small team can create something truly special.

Your feedback shaped every improvement, from smoother controls and pacing to new content and features, and let us create the most complete, refined, and responsive version of our game yet.

We hope you will join us in the improved world of Aema, and if you enjoy your time with the game, or if you have feedback to share on what could be done better, please leave a review! It means so much to us here at Myrkur.

For 10 bucks, sure

Man...I've never been so torn/have such mixed feelings about a game. In short, the TLDR version of my review is: This would have been a good/great game if the combat was better. Since it's not, this is a mediocre to decent game at most. I highly respect the developer for making the effort of creating an Enhanced edition (just like CDPR used to do), and they did fix a lot of problem and improved the game, but it's not a memorable game, sadly. Mid combat, sound, graphics/style and poor story, filled with cringe 202X writing. So lets start by saying that the game's COMBAT is very mediocre. The animations are very floaty, the finishers that they've added are buggy as hell and the enemies are few and pretty boring. You also fight the same bosses over and over again, while then having the pleasure of "losing" in the cutscene that follows. Which is always an L for developers. It's sad because the main gimmick of the game's combat is the magical powers the main character has. Those are REALLY cool. She basically has the FORCE and can push, pull, throw etc, enemies and objects. I feel like that system was well made. But the moment to moment sword swings, parries, dodges etc, is pretty mid. The person who did the PUZZLES did a great job. They aren't that hard if even I could manage them, but they felt good to solve and they never feel like a chore. You can also get hints if you're really stuck. The game still has MANY bugs, some requiring a checkpoint load to fix. After an entire edition upgrade and multiple patches? Yeah... GEAR in the game is poorly implemented. All armors, except the plate one, are ugly reskins. And all the passives you unlock by crafting them are borings as hell. "oh look you do 5% more damage with melee, oh look you do 50% more dmg with throwing". It feels tacked on. ABILITIES are ok, but I think they should unlock faster so you get to use them more. STORY is decent. Nothing memorable as I've said. Funny fact: I did find out the game is made by Icelandic devs, which explains a lot. You will see a ton of very Weird scenery in the game, but if you think of Iceland and just look up the place, you'll understand why it looks like that. Characters! Oh boy... The old man, the secondary character of the game, is very well written and the voice actor is great. Same goes for the main antagonists of the game. The rest sadly are mid. And I would even say the MAIN character is quite bad. I don't know if it's the voice actors fault, or if it's the writing, but she just becomes more and more unlikable. First of all, you're in a fantasy world, that has decent lore and has it's own names for a lot of things. Why the f would you make it then, so that your main character talks with an American English accent and use modern 2026 language?! It's infuriating to try to immerse yourself in a FANTASY world and keep hearing stupid stuff like "yep!, nope!, YEAH!" and many other examples of phrases I'm forgetting, because I just rolled my eyes so hard I almost died. It's bad. My other problem is the main character just becomes a dumb girl-boss in the middle part of the game. EVERY SINGLE mission she uses the phrase "follow my lead!" to the point of cringe. And the game tries very hard to convince you that her, berating the old man, is "SARCASM". NO! she's just an A-HOLE! She's almost never funny or witty. She just treats him like dirt and he responds in a very endearing way. But it should probably be the other way around sometimes, so you have a balance, no? At some points in the story, you can relate to her character a bit more. Especially at the end she tones down the dumb barrage of "sarcasm", but for most of the game she's just unbearable. MUSIC is very forgettable/uninspired. SOUND is also strangely very badly mixed. I could not find a good balance of sound. Some sounds are far to quiet and some too loud. GRAPHICS are good, but the performance is all over the place. On both my pcs I could not get the game to have a steady framerate. Also for some reason some of the cutscenes (which are very few in the game), look amazing. Way more so than the game itself. The animations of the face and the eyes especially were amazing in those. But the environments/enemy design, and the overall ARTSTYLE of the game, are quite poorly done. Everything in the game just looks like stock assets. (although Iceland does tend to look like that from what I've seen in pictures lol) Why add a new game plus to a game that's 100% linear and of which half is puzzles/parkour? Tacked on, again. So as you can see, for every positive there is at least one negative about the game. It has a decent ending, but in a day or two, I will forget I've ever played it. I'm going to cut the devs some slack since it's their first game. Hopefully they'll do a better job next time, because the potential is there. Focus most efforts on the COMBAT/animations and lose the attempts at sarcasm if you don't have a GREAT writer. You'll go far imo.

Budget God of war 2018

Will likely update this review if possible later as not extremely far in so kinda first impressions This game clear is heavily inspired in design and game world even gameplay, combat and ''puzzles'' to God of war 2018 though it does have some better game design elements such as finally a modern game not having extremely obvious paths to climb or as obvious where to go.. still obvious enough but not as clear as its been for a long time Its still a good game when discounted enough and one don't mind some jank and/ or what some call'' millennial writing '' , but currently atleast other more polished and better options of similar game world ,gameplay ,combat and puzzles exist on GOG let alone elsewhere to pick from.. Honestly the only truly bad thing I can say so far thats not so subjective but still kinda is subjective is the graphical settings has no options to turn the upscaling off just lessen it ..

Awesome game

I played this game at launch on Steam. When I got the email that it was on GOG I came to double dip it before I knew it was on sale, which is even better. Echoes of the End launched with bugs, glitches, and a small host of issues that made it a rough launch. That said, the team worked exceptionally hard, listening to our feedback and not only fixed the technical issues, but further enhanced the gameplay and combat. The visuals are absolutely stunning, the combat and magical abilities during combat and also to manipulate objects and parts of the environment make traversal and environmental puzzles a blast to figure out. They're always throwing something new at you. Combat starts out basic, as one should expect, but as Ryn grows stronger you upgrade her melee and magical abilities, making combat increasingly more fun. Enemies don't just stand around, they are aggressive and force you to learn to parry, dodge, block, and also use your magic and companion. You can knock down archer towers, throw objects into archer towers, other enemies, throw enemies into other enemies, throw them off cliffs, etc. It's a LOT of fun. I don't want to get into spoilers, but I enjoyed the story and Ryn's character arc from frosty and mistrusting (she's had good reason to be) to learning how to trust and also allow friendship. Her growth throughout the story was paced well. There is a noticeable lack of extra animations in terms of jumping or climbing, but I want to stress that this is a AA game. It does not have the resources of a God of War or Horizon Forbidden west, but with the resources this team had, they did a phenomenal job and I would never have known it was their first project. IMO they've punched far above their weight. My thoughts on this game are from my experience before the game was enhanced, so I look forward to experiencing it again on GOG. I hope more people here will give this game a try. It was such a blast and I can't wait to see what the Myrkur games does next. An aside: I mentioned I played this game first on steam, so if you wish to verify the truth of my experience and playtime, my steam name is Synesthasa1. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Thank you for reading.

Excessive Platforming, Few Combat

I played this game on steam (unfortunately) The game rating overall: Acceptable. Gameplay: Exploration: Mostly platforming puzzles (Similar to Kena platforming puzzles to a degree). This game is heavy on percision platforming. Due to this, you do not feel like you are doing any exploration, just solving puzzles one after another to reach the next puzzles. For my taste, very much overdone. Comabat: Creative, many skills to unlock for different combat experience. The combat is somewhat "god-of-war-like" hack-n-slash, can be very fun and engaging--BUT it's very few encounters, very unfortunate the most fun part of the game is the least thing you will spend doing. Some of the bosses are fun, some are just okay-I-will-kill-you by just spamming my cool skills. The Enviroment: Nice, good graphics, and pretty enviroment. Overall: If, and only if, you are okay with the platforming puzzles and precise jumps platforming, which are a lot, really a lot, then get this game and enjoy its combat and pretty okayish story. For a good discounted price, I would get the game if I haven't already played it, it was okay, but the platforming is a pain imo. Enjoy it if you decided to give it a shot.

Incredible graphocs, teadously slow.

Graphics are amazing, but the game lacks character developement, boring fights very linear and only one main character. Don't spend any more than $10 on ths product, it's not that great!
