The year is 1988. Adventure game developer Delores Edmund, on hiatus from her job at MMucasFlem Games, has returned to Thimbleweed Park for a quick vacation. While she’s home, she’s making some extra money as a photographer for the Thimbleweed Nickel News. Hey, game developers need to eat, too!

Thimbleweed Park hasn’t changed at all in the year since Delores has been away… or has it?

…Since when is the S&D Diner a five-star establishment?
…When did the PillowBear™ become all the rage?
…Why is Ransome the Clown suddenly winning humanitarian awards?
…How come no one seems to remember that dead body that turned up under the bridge a year ago?
…Can Thimbleweed Park get any stranger?!.

In a town like Thimbleweed Park, a side career in photojournalism is the least of your problems...

Delores: A Thimbleweed Park Mini-Adventure started out as a prototype for Ron Gilbert’s new point-and-click adventure game engine and grew into a fun little game. It is not a sequel to Thimbleweed Park and is probably missing all of the small bells and whistles that would make it a commercially viable game.

This was a challenging game to make because we had to use almost exclusively “found art” from Thimbleweed Park to create all new puzzles. Also because we couldn’t go outside IRL.

As a thank you to our fans, we are releasing it for free as something you can have fun with in these odd times. You don’t have to have played Thimbleweed Park to enjoy this mini-adventure. (But if you do enjoy it, why not check out Thimbleweed Park, hmm?)

Best thing since shoe horns

It was a lot of fun. Being a fan of the original game, and owning its source code, I just couldn't pass on getting the binaries. Moreover, there was a 30-day refund guarantee, so it was a no brainer.

I now know what Phalanges are

Continuing with the quirky charm of Thimbleweed Park, this game is probably a best demo for the full version of the game. Granted, the interface is way different from the main game, but the game play loop of point and click adventure is satisfying. Only drawback for me is that the game quits when you are done with the main quest , but given its free and only 68MB file size, I can overlook this slight inconvienience. Havent finished the game, but its a good one hour to complete based on other's average playtimes.

No context without playing original game

As a set of six mini-games of puzzles varying from extremely easy to can you solve it without a walkthrough difficulty. There's so much information tossed around which is completely irrelevant and is never resolved in the story line. Some puzzles thankfully only have to be solved once such as figuring out how to explore the bathroom. Others become a repetitive grind such as getting inside the bank. Apparently there's a bit of backstory from the original game about the bear pillows, a clown, a rather reclusive proprietor of a violin a& clock shop, several odd machines which are never used, and a supposed mystery about a dead guy that never amounts to anything. Yet one puzzle involving a destroyed home had no real rhyme or reason to it. As reminiscent as the player interface and graphics are of 30+ year old Sierra Online games, it baffles me as to why a 64-bit Windows 10 system is required to run it. That wasn't a barrier in my case, but I understand others' frustrations. So it's a way to pass the time for an hour or so but felt like there needed to be so much more to it. I understand the challenges the developers faced, and kudos for making an effort. The price was right anyway..

Like an old school demo, but a sequel

Great game. Shows great graphics from the original game, colourfull characters and world. A bit repetitive and lack of voice acting, but hey -> it's free! Got me hyped up for the original Thimbleweed Park, so it's kinda like demo version of older games
