Description

In Cargo, Please!, you play as a delivery truck driver taking on shipments across three cities. Each job starts the same way: accept a shipment, pick it up, and deliver it to the drop-off point. The twist is that not every delivery is safe, simple, or legal, and the police are always watching.

The game focuses on replayable, fast-paced driving mixed with a cozy, lighthearted tone. Shipments are smartly auto-generated, so no two runs feel exactly the same. Some deliveries are quick and easy, others are long, timed, or more fragile. Damaging your cargo can cost you, so how you drive matters just as much as how fast you go.

As you complete deliveries, you earn money and experience. Over time, you upgrade your truck to handle better shipments, unlock new trucks, access new cities, and expand your list of playable characters. Progress is steady and satisfying, built around improving your skills and pushing your limits without turning the game into a hardcore simulation.

The world is open, with a full day and night cycle and dynamic cozy weather that changes how each drive feels. Between deliveries, you can switch things up in Taxi Driver Mode, offering a more relaxed way to explore the cities and enjoy the driving mechanics.

Cargo, Please! is not about realism or long stories. It is about sinking into the loop of picking up jobs, driving fast, avoiding trouble, and slowly building a better delivery setup, one shipment at a time.

Take on a wide variety of cargo deliveries across three cities in an open world with a day and night cycle and dynamic weather.

Choose between light, mid, and heavy trucking, each offering a different driving feel and delivery challenge.

Shipments are auto-generated and come in multiple tiers, including easy, long, timed, and special deliveries, some of which attract police attention.

Cargo health plays a major role, rewarding careful driving even when things get fast and chaotic.

Truck customization lets you change paints, wheels, and trucks as you progress, and your vehicle can be upgraded to accept better-paying and riskier shipments.

Taxi Driver Mode offers a change of pace, while controller support and Steam Deck support make the game easy to pick up and play.

Fun, but not much content + shortcomings

It took me only about 2h to get the best delivery truck, buy a wheels and a paint job for it and then do a couple of deliveries in the third, final town (67 level). There's not much more to do beside that. Gameplay loop is fun enough and mechanics are fine. There is a lot to polish however. TL;DR Even though the game looks like a mobile game, there's a lot of potential here, however it needs a lot of polishing and a lot of new content. Pros: + The game is not as simple as it looks, it's very easy to break the vehicle even within one delivery, so you have to be very very careful (also because of small props around the way). + Because of the above, you sometimes even have to choose waiting in the traffic jam over ramming other vehicles. + The desire to earn money, buy another vehicle and test its capabilities it's addictive and keeps you playing on and on. + Taxi car from the Taxi mode is fun to drive, because it's fast and handles well; such vehicles should also be available in the normal mode. [EDIT] + Built-in internet radio is awesome and makes really nice atmosphere during the repetitive gameplay. Cons: - Way too short; there's no point in playing more than a couple of hours as there's no more content you can chase for. - Cops are totally harmless; you deliver prohibited goods, you run over pedestrians, you smash other cars, even cop ones and there's not much cops can do, only if you stay next to police car for a couple of seconds, you'll need to pay a fine, that's all... - Refuelling and repairs are expensive, that's super cool, however it's always cheaper to smash your car completely once you're running out of fuel as then you'll get the full fuel can and health bar for much lower price. - Small props like stones, kerbs, fences etc. can easily break your car even if you just touch them, that's the most annoying part of the game, especially at night, when the visiblity is poor; it looks more like bug and shortcoming rather than a real challange for the player. - Level 2 cars let you drift; all would be fine, however the game just lets you drive foward and push the drift button to earn infinite EXP, without even drifitng, which is hilarious. - When you get access to the second town and level 2 cars, it's better to play with them in the first town, so you earn the same money, but deliveries take a fraction of the time of those in the second town, and there are fewer obstacles; you can save up for a most expensive truck very quickly this way. - When you drive the most expensive, largest truck with the long trailer, it's very likely that you’ll get stuck between two cars and just explode; that's the second most annoying part of the game.

Not worth.

I'm tired of people being so permissive with "solo dev" projects. I'm tired of seeing "barely games" or bad ones like this one in stores. I hate the hype of moral virtue signaling, and I hate feminist ideology in my games. You don't FORCE genders if you pretend to be and advocate of "equality", you force them when you are either into a trend of virtual virtue signaling or when you are slipping into "superiority" claims (machismo mirror). But of course, they call it "visibilizing". I've tried this for a couple of minutes, after the "surprise tutorial!" because the game starts without any menus or anything and jumps straight into the tutorial so I could not set up the options or anything, making the game be loud as f*ck without being able to change sound settings or set windowed screen before starting; in my case because I use headphones and the nature of them is to have windows volume at max while controlling each app's volume. Then I realized what this is: - The game starts with a warning "solo dev project" as if that is an excuse for what you are going to try next, begging for pardon and washed out reviews in anticipation. - You are forced to be a woman. No gender selection. - The tutorial consists of a low poly-hip hop dude funny dressed in green probably made with AI or a bought asset that proceeds to bombard you with dialogs while he slowly explains what you already know even before installing the game. Its press TAB, select the mission available, load the cargo manually on point A, go to point B, unload cargo manually. That is the game, not joking. The idea is somewhat ok if well done, but the implementation ends up being a looped delivery mission from GTA 1 without the rest of the game. - The music is generic LO-FI hip hop. The type you can find searching for "study relax night" in youtube. - Its a loop of grind & repeat, nothing we wouldn't expect from these type of games. I predict the adding of "achievements" in the near future because the game is as hollow as it can be, needing to fill gaps with these "virtual stickers" that the young ones like to collect. - Control prompts sometimes mix keyboard with gamepad (when no gamepad is connected). Overall, think of this game as if it were constant GTA 1 delivery missions looped while discarding everything else, make it repeat ad nauseam and give "levels" and "unlocks" (rpg vibes) the more you repeat the loop. The core of the core. You remove everything from a game and this is what you get. That is why I predict the adding of achievements; the game will need something to make players play it and there are these tricks to fill the gaps at least for so called "completionists". Let's hope the "solo dev" doesn't start adding paid DLCs with the rest of the game. It breaks the golden rule: "do not make the player realize he's doing the same thing over and over." And for me, it breaks my golden rule: "do not force ideologies into my games."
