Description

Clear the fog by increasing the pressure and form ice. Melt it into water by raising the temperature. Convert martian dust into soil, then green the planet with algae. Plant flowers and trees to generate oxygen and turn the sky blue. Grow forests and create biomes then create life by incubating insects, birds and animals.

Explore an unknown planet. Travel across Mars on foot, by rover, and through the air, reaching distant regions to find resources or to simply watch the results of your terraforming efforts. Discover abandoned stations, ancient machines, and wrecked ships. Visit orbital platforms, and piece together what happened to Earth and those who came before you.

You play as Blossom, a small but capable robot built to survive where humans cannot. Managing energy is central to gameplay: power your movement, tools, and machines to stay operational in a harsh environment. Playing as a robot changes how you interact with the world. Electricity replaces food, so careful energy management becomes key to progress.

Gather Mars’ resources, refine materials, automate using drones, build tools, machines and structures. Unlock blueprints, upgrade your technology, and construct bases that grow alongside the planet, supporting terraforming, exploration, and survival in increasingly complex ways.

Build and customize modular rovers, attach functional modules like batteries, storage, and mining lasers, and chain them into convoys. Drive across the planet, mine on the go, and create fully mobile or stationary outposts wherever exploration takes you. Your base is not tied to one place. It moves with you, enabling true planetary-scale exploration.

Fun Robot, Flat World: A Confused First.

.. impression. After my first play session, I have to admit I came away somewhat underwhelmed. Had I not seen the trailer, I wouldn’t have had a clear idea of what the game is about. There’s no intro video, no text setting the scene at the start—just a starting base that hands me rudimentary recipes, whose ingredients can easily be gathered with a few short fetch quests. And within less than half an hour, I’m already at version V3 of all the tools—building tool, info tool, overlay tool, and so on. Not that gathering resources isn’t fun, and the energy conduit mechanics will probably play a bigger role later... …but at the beginning, it’s more confusing than engaging. The presentation and onboarding feel more like a beta or early access version, without any disclaimer. Then you stumble across quirky design choices, like having to click menu items twice—once to select, once to confirm—which interrupts the flow. The graphics are nice, and the robot design looks great. The low-polygon architectural style works well, but the landscape, especially without ambient occlusion, feels flat and uninspired. The ground is overly bright and contrasts too sharply with everything else. I give it 3 Stars for what the game page is promising, although I am a little demotivated to go on...

Terroforming made easy

In this game you have to mine resources and process them. You build an energy grid and later on a water grid. After about 30 min you know, get this resource, get that resource, process this to build that. You are not bound to one place, except for one "building". So you are wandering around or later driving around to gather other metals. You can deconstruct your buildings and rebuild them far away without loosing material in the process. The robot and devices look cute, the landscape is a bit boring. The Planet is flat with hills put on top. The minerals are glaring too much, which makes it look unrealistic, compared to other structures - the textures are more or less missing. Unfortunately at the time the GOG version is 3 updates behind what can be seen at Steam. Thus a bug I encountered is not fixed. All in all a nice game with low difficulty and without fighting so you can say it's family friendly. For a one man project (and his woman and a cat) this game is a huge achievement. p.s. Game runs under Linux via wine p.p.s one day later the newest patch was released here too

A survival game for kids

(Note: runs of Linux with Lutris and Wine with no problems) It's a survival game but with simplified game mechanics, tech tree and visuals, which is why I put "for kids" in the title because it should be accessible to them. Everything is very visual except power: for example, inventories for everything but power are physical - you literally put individual things (pieces of ore, manufacturing components) on the outside of something, be it a backpack, a storage self (whose capacity starts at just FOUR physical things for the first version and then just increases by 4 every new storage version) or a storage module on a trailer you attach to your buggy. Power is the one thing which has an actual non-physical quantity and is also the one thing your character constantly requires, taking it from its backpack when not connected (physically, with power lines) to any power generation devices or batteries. Managing power and not going out so far away from power generation that your backpack runs out of power is the only real "survival" element in the game and, even then, if you run out of power you just respawn. Eventually you can make a buggy, to which you can attach trailers, and each trailer can have a SINGLE module that does just ONE thing. Really, outside power you can track the things you have by counting with your fingers, possible also using your toes later in the game. Progression is a pretty linear affair - you mine some ores to make devices, mainly terraforming devices and power-generation devices to power the rest and top up your backpack. Advancing of planet terraformation gives you more blueprints which let you build newer devices to make your life a bit easier and to do other parts of the terraformation. A lot of the "management" in the game feels artificial, rather than being something that naturally emerges in a complex game world. There is some story, quite interesting and grand, but kinda simple in terms of story quantity, though the theme is of a complex nature. There are some "building management" elements in having to build devices and chose their placement as well as managing power distribution, which is done physically with wires which connect one to one with power in/outlets of normal devices you have special devices whose only function is to allow connection of multiple wires. I get the impression this is a smartphone/tablet game which was ported to the PC. Personally I got bored at around 10 game hours because it all feels simple and shallow, but this might be an interesting intro into the survival concept for those who haven't been playing such games since the 90s.

Astroneer Lite

Really enjoyed playing this game - even though it is a bit linear and predictable. But it is a good intro to Terra-forming games
