Love AD&D? Love grinding? Want to enjoy next-level grinding? Then BG2 may be the game for you.
Stare blankly at the screen as your team of heroes take an eternity to deal with a single Mephit. Resignedly trudge back and forth to find McGuffin after McGuffin. Grit your teeth against the wave of revulsion on hearing the dreadful dialogue. Hate yourself for keeping characters alive in case they're key to the mediocre plot, while revelling in daydreams of repeatedly stabbing them in the eyes with needles.
You'll have more fun ironing. Which has the added bonus of arguably being a constructive use of your time.
The sort-of turn-based combat does this game a serious disservice. The AI is terrible, so you have to micro-manage everything, but the interface is so fiddly that doing so is a tedious chore which overshadows any enjoyment to be had, unless that's really your bag.
This game is waiting for a review. Take the first shot!
