Apocalipsis: Wormwood Edition also includes: Apocalipsis: One Night in the Woods and Apocalipsis - Soundtrack & Artbook

Apocalipsis: Harry at the End of the World is a traditional point-and-click adventure game, in the vein of Samorost and Machinarium, where solving puzzles comes with a sense of discovery and accomplishment. This gameplay style, merged with unique artstyle inspired by 15th century engravings, creates the perfect backdrop for a story about heartbreak, redemption and, quite literally, the end of the world.

In Apocalipsis you play as Harry, for whom the loss of his beloved was the end of his world. Now he has to venture out into the strange, unwelcoming lands to get her back. On his journey he will meet fantastical creatures, straight from the minds of artists from the 15th century Europe, and ultimately conquer his own, personal demons. Featuring the narration by Nergal, leader of the band Behemoth, with the added atmospheric new rendition of Behemoth's music, it will be a journey to remember.

Apocalipsis shares with the Middle Ages its artstyle and the game’s world itself is inspired by Book of Revelation and steeped in medieval philosophy and beliefs, with the story taking cues from Dante Alighieri’s “Divine Comedy”. Every location and character in Apocalipsis was inspired by classical woodcuts by 15th and 16th century artists such as Hans Holbein, Michael Wolgemut, and Albrecht Dürer. This pairing of medieval art and philosophy with video games creates something unique, like you’ve never seen before.

Come, let us take you on a journey you will not forget!

IN APOCALIPSIS YOU WILL:

  • Play a classic point-and-click adventure game with a twist

One more star for presentation.

As an adventure games veteran I can honestly say this one is average - which means for me around 3 stars. But I cannot indifferently pass by its presentation. Audio-visuals are unique, memorable, stylish, sometimes disturbing and for me personally add one start to the general impressions. As for the core of the game itself: - the game is rather short, took me less than 5 hours to finish it (both base game and addon) - the other 4 hours I spent at achievement hunt - if you into it, get ready - it's buggy. I had to delete save file 2 times and start over to complete them all (I mean - for some of them starting a new game and traveling to the spot by map is enough, for others you need to start fresh) - game is generally easy - all the puzzles make sense, despite some here claim, it's just they're very uneven in difficulty, some are straight out easy, for others you have to use your brain more creatively to see the idea behind them (pen & paper helps to write some patters down) - the story - well, it's completely nothing to remember here actually - the story is only a foundation to begin a journey in this bizzare environment - also the presentation of the story is a bit chaotic, only after finishing the base game and its addon you can get the full picture (and its chronology) So, to sum up - I've bought the game for a few bucks in a promotion, I've spent 10 hours of my time in it and I don't regret. Furthermore, you get the soundtrack in goodies, which I added to my Favorite Game OSTs playlist, it's really great (although for some might be sometimes disturbing).

Visually stunning adventure+nice puzzles

First point & click adventure that I've ever played. Apocalipsis is short and sweet. Basically every scene is visually pure genius and alone for that it's worth playing this. The story and environments are dark but the game is fun as well. The protagonist remains silent throughout the game and appears stoic which makes some moments total badass, considering what Harry actually performs ingame. You actually experience an adventure with Harry which I wasn't expecting, when buying it. "Night in the woods" is a small but nice addition too. Definitely recommend it, even if you have never played an point & click adventure or if you're generally not interested in the genre.

Fantastic art, "meh" everything else...

The art is well thought out and beautiful. But... that's it. The game is painfully avarage. The story is lame. Some of the puzzles are simply easy and boring, others doesn't make any sense. The soundtrack is nerve-racking. It's just doesn't feel good to play... Sorry... I really want to like the game, but i just can't.

Wonderful

There was alot said about this Game so i keep this short. A wonderful little Adventure Game, best played if you dont look for clues. The Feeling if you solve the Riddles on your own is simply too great. I love the World,Artstyle and Soundtrack. Pretty cheap and absolutely worth your Time, this Game is Art.

Cool artstyle, short game

Apocalipsis: Wormwood Edition is a point-and-click game with a unique artstyle, inspired by medieval art. This contains the base game, Harry at the End of the World and the DLC, One Night in the Woods. The base game contains 23 levels, each of them are pretty short. The story is about a young man's journey to bring back his lover who was executed for being a witch. Meanwhile in the DLC you play as Harry's lover, Zula, who is indeed a witch as she tries to do a demonic ritual. During Harry's journey you will encounter puzzles. Many are just simple finding and using items, but some are more complicated minigames. While most of the levels are quite easy, some puzzles are just confusing. And there's no hint system, you must figure it out yourself or use a walkthrough. Zula's DLC only has 3 levels, but they are bigger and better-designed. I personally prefer the DLC, the puzzles are a lot more clearer, too. Both can be finished in around 3 hours. While I think Apocalipsis is a pretty great point-and-click game with memorable artstyle, the story honestly feels kinda unclear. There are no dialogue between the characters, only narration by Behemoth band's Nergal in several cutscenes. It would be better if it has more dialogue and clearer puzzles, but it's still worth a try. Just hope you don't run into a strange save-wiping bug like I did.
