I’ve been around the block enough times to know that truly unique art direction is a rare breed. While I haven't spent much time with shooters like this lately, there is something about that "rubber-hose" animation style that pulls at a very specific thread of nostalgia. It’s that classic Mickey Mouse-era charm, but dipped in the grime and shadows of a hardboiled noir.
MOUSE: P.I. For Hire feels like a fever dream where Max Fleischer and Raymond Chandler decided to build something together. Even if I’m not entirely sure if the frantic gameplay is my usual speed, the sheer craftsmanship on display makes me want to dive in regardless. It’s bold, it’s experimental, and it looks like nothing else on the market right now.
That is exactly why I want to see it on GOG. I refuse to buy a game this distinctive on a platform where I’m just paying for a temporary license. If I’m going to take a chance on something this stylized and special, I want to know it’s mine to keep. I want to own the files, DRM-free and future-proof, without being tethered to a launcher just to walk the streets of Mouseburg.
A game that puts this much effort into its identity shouldn't be trapped behind a digital lease. It deserves a permanent spot in a library that respects the player’s right to actually own their history. Let’s get it on GOG.
