Vampire®: The Masquerade - Bloodlines™

This game is an outstanding expirience on so many levels. The story starts in a pretty unusuall way, when your protagonsit get turned into a vampire. You will be almoust immideatly thrown into the wild swirl of underworld politics and intrigues. I will not spoil any further, because in this game story is really full of suprises and twists. Depending on what clan you'll pick for your hero, different characters will treat you a bit diffrently, some times the entire game can change because of your new nature - either in terms of dialogue or gameplay. Speaking of gameplay - VtMB offers a specter of different weapons and supernatural powers wich you can combine in order to achieve your goal. Game truly gives you different ways to complite your task. Characters and dialogs are astonishing, writing is clever and voice acting is superb - seriously, I can count the games with such fleshed-out characters using one hand. There is always a down side - on release game was full of bugs and many of them are still in the game, despite of the comunity efforts, some of them are game-breaking. Balance in the game is also quite weird and really leans towards the combat approach (that's fine because it's still an action-rpg, but some people can find it a bit dissapointing). But everything I've said before doesn't really matter. You can't judge games like this using standart approach, every part of it is working on atmosphere. Graphics can be a bit dated and locations are small, but it still gives you such a feeling of presence in urban jungles, that puts to shame some games dedicated to wast open cities (hello, deus ex: md and watch dogs). The game that makes you feel like a part of nocturnal brotherhood in city of angels. The game that changed my mind on how cool vampires can be. The outstanding masterpiece.

Even after 14 years, the game still has its magic. Playing with the unofficial patch, the game is super fun, and the endings are awesome. The characters are great and the voice acting is lit. The Deb of Night is probably the best ASMR I've ever heard. All in all, a great experience, especially for the 20$ pricetag. Recommended.

After purchasing VMB on release and playing through it in a two day solid rush, with maybe some sleep mixed in here and there, can say that this in my opinion is the most atmospheric game ever created. It was ambitious, and way ahead of it's time in regards to character interaction and branching ways to handle situations. Recommendations for first playthrough -- Brujah with Celerity maxed, attributes of hacking, subterfuge or persuasion, and brawl which will make many tasks more enjoyable since you can hack pcs to get info, seduce people into doing what you want, and feed on enemies in combat if your unarmed/strength is high enough, silent assassin never lacking blood pool.

14 years after it came out Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is still a decent game, but I'd argue it was never really a great one. You see, if you play a really similar action/RPG hybrid such as the first Deus Ex today (and that came out 4 years before Bloodlines), the gameplay feels a little bit dated, but it's still a lot of fun with a ton of engaging options and just works. Bloodlines, on the other hand, was a complete mess when it came out and its core mechanics are still garbage after all the years of fan patches. The melee action is barely passable and extremely boring, the shooing only works (somewhat) once you max out all the relevant skills, and the sneaking is a complete embarrassment as you can literally assassinate a bunch of enemies in front of all of their buddies without them noticing. Even the storytelling is pretty cumbersome at times with convoluted dialogue mechanics that make it a bit annoying to go through the otherwise excellent dialogue. The main story is pretty basic too with the side quests providing most of the real fun. The appeal of the game is pretty obvious, of course. The vampire lore, world building, and overall atmosphere are spot on. Some of the character classes offer unique play styles throughout the otherwise linear story. The music and voiceover are spectacular. The side quests are all unique and for the most part interesting. However, a big part of the game feels like a chore because of the badly broken gameplay. While I didn't really hate my latest playthrough, I really didn't love it that much either. I think it may be time to move on...

You enter the house. It's quiet... too quiet. Random furniture is flying at you and you start to get nervous. Maybe she was right about the curse? Once you decide to investigate further, you will find out what really happened in this mysterious place... This quest is one of the many amazing adventures you do in this great RPG. I've read a lot of reviews about this game and I was thinking that I give it a try. OMG, it was worth it. Absolutely. Just like Deus Ex proved me right, so did this game. It may be a buggy mess upon release but thanks to a community patch it was playable. You start as one of the different clans of vampires. Each one of them have different playstyles, especially Nosveratu and Malkavian. I highly recommend that you play these ones. Malkavian reveals a lot of informations that don't seem clear before and Nosveratu is the hard mode. Just take the other ones instead if you haven't played this game before, trust me. The story, the characters, the quests and the atmosphere are so well done. It is pure joy to play this game. I can only express how much fun I had with it. I was laughing a lot, especially during my second playthrough as Malkavian. Please give this game a try if you love RPGs. Was kann ich über dieses Spiel sagen, was nicht schon gesagt wurde? Es ist buggy, unfertig und wurde erst durch die Community spielbar. Doch trotz seiner Fehler ist das Spiel ein Wahnsinn. Selten habe ich so einen Spaß an einem RPG gehabt und es mehrmals durchgespielt, nur um zu sehen, wie sich die Reaktionen der Charaktere ändern, wenn ich einem anderem Clan angehöre. Die Missionen stechen besonders hervor. Wenn man die Missionen farbig beschreiben müsste, würde ich Regenbogen sagen. So bunt und kreativ sind diese gestaltet. Probiert das Spiel aus, es ist es wert :)
