In March we announced that we’re teaming up with Amazon Luna cloud gaming service to give you even more ways of enjoying your titles, while still keeping our mission of DRM-free gaming. Now, the ability to redefine your gaming experience and play on the go has become a reality.

Let’s take a closer look at how it works and what you can expect!

In case you’ve missed the memo…

Amazon Luna is a cloud gaming service developed and operated by Amazon. The service first launched in March 2022 in the United States, and then spread its reach to other countries last year, now available in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Austria, and the Netherlands.

Luna works by streaming games from cloud servers and runs on Amazon’s powerful cloud computing service Amazon Web Services (AWS). And what it means is that it allows its customers to enjoy gaming on the go, on the couch, or anywhere else they have an internet connection.

No lengthy downloads or updates, no need for an expensive gaming PC, complicated setup, or heavy computer processing – just pure joy of running your games on a compatible device of your choice in high-quality.

The DRM-free aspect of your games remains

Yes, your DRM-free games, the ones that you’ve already paid for and that will remain yours forever. We know how much you value ownership and all the aspects of DRM-free gaming that we offer – that’s because we feel the same.

And our collaboration with Luna completely respects that. On Luna, you can play every game that you already own on GOG and that is also available on Luna. There’s absolutely no requirement to purchase games twice – you bought them once on our platform so they’re forever yours, as always.

Moreover, it works both ways. You’ll be able to buy select games that are available on GOG via Luna’s client, which will go straight into your GOG library.

That means buying games on GOG (directly on our platform or via Luna) will give you the best of both worlds – enjoying them on Luna’s cloud gaming service, as well as via Offline Installers or GOG GALAXY. All your DRM-free benefits of owning games on GOG will still be there, you’ll just have more ways to play your favorite titles.

And of course features of GOG GALAXY such as cloud saves and achievements will still work when playing on Luna – don’t worry about splitting your progress.

How do you start and what’s available for now

It’s super simple. Luna is available in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Austria, and the Netherlands. If you’re a resident of any of these countries just head over to Luna’s cloud gaming website. There, you can link your GOG account to your Amazon Luna service, and if you have Prime Gaming or Luna+ subscription (with the latter granting access to more titles) you’re good to go!

From that moment you can play the selected GOG games from your library via Luna and buy new games directly on Luna that will, as mentioned earlier, go straight to your GOG library and make them accessible also via their Offline Installers and GOG GALAXY.

At the moment, there are over 40 awesome titles available to play via Luna, like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Stardew Valley, Ghostrunner 2, Hollow Knight, or Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous – Enhanced Edition. And, as a cherry on top, you can get all of them on our Summer Sale discounts!

Why you should give Luna a try

To put it simply: it opens up a whole new dimension of gaming, allowing you to experience games in a completely new way on multiple devices. Whether your current gaming rig isn’t powerful enough to handle the most demanding titles, you’re often away from home and still want to play, or you just sometimes want to relax on a couch and keep playing – Luna is the perfect solution in all those scenarios. Oh, and jumping straight into gameplay is extremely quick and simple – installation processes, downloads, setting things up, none of it is required on Luna. You pick your favourite game and just play it.

Devices that you already own (PCs, smartphones, tablets, Fire TV devices, and smart TVs) can become your gaming devices, and Luna also supports peripherals that you already own, such as Xbox One and PlayStation 4 controllers, and mouse + keyboard.

Moreover, Luna also offers its own Luna Controller, which makes it even easier to seamlessly transition your game from one screen to the next.

You’re visiting relatives but your Stardew chickens are demanding attention too? Just pack your controller with you and play on your smartphone or their TV.

Time to play some games!
