Restore colour to the GOG.com logo on the top navigation bar
@Molkor06 sandralyn is a spammer.
Oh hey, the color is gone. When did that happen? and why are you spelling it with a u?
Also, sandralyn. What the hell are you going on about?
Pls. Hovering over at least. pls
Hover - Color. Why they simple don't add this features? And everybody will be happy :D
Download Stylish or other user-defined stylesheet extension for your browser, and change it yourself. They even made it easy for you by defining the image via CSS attribute, rather than an <IMG> tag.
A thread about changing the sites logo back to the original?
We'll moan about anything.
I did like the green logo better. It was easy to spot in newsfeed and does look better. There's too much grey/black in various gaming stores already.
Dare to be different!
The minimalistic, momochrome and transparent logo that is implemented right now is beautiful. I really don't get why you'll need the old one back :/
The logo is not totally without color, it has the color of the background.
Grey logo isnt the biggest prob, i liked the old design with "Topseller" and "Promo List" at the main site much better and loved the old crazy promos which were often and sometime really mindblowing like that last longtime promo before the SWITCH.
I know in my company we changed the color of the logo for 50% of the users. One group then spent x% more than the other group. Therefore the logo was changed for 100% of users. It does not matter one iota if you "like" the color or not. The ONLY thing that matters is if the color generates more revenue. In GOG's case obviously their revenue has not decreased due to their design change, therefore it will stay as it is.
I am a million percent behind this.
Yes, the grey-only logo is ugly, boring and drab.
Also, is it just me or are the game posters in "Latest Deal" and "Headlines" section covered with a light grey film?
The colours of those are definitely as vibrant and nice as the game posters in the "What's New" and "Bestsellers" sections. It looks really weird and uninviting.
I usually won't care, but the one with colour did look a lot nicer.
What happened? Also can't you just have one of those account preference thingies?
Prefer the old style. Too clinical. This isn't a hospital, it's a kick ass game site.
And bring back color for the favicon too
I am also voting for old style logo with colors. It really have more appeal, than this flat one...
Who says the logo is grey? On the main page it's not actually grey at all, it's transparent and changes color based on the back ground behind it when you scroll.
Also thank you for not going with plain bright white. The dull grey is much easier on the eyes.
I would like the logo to be in color however i am loving the new simplistic color scheme and design. Very easy on the eyes and doesn't "feel" cluttered like it did before when browsing around the site. Can't please everyone i guess.
I think It can be more Good old games and a multi-colour logo too. I like the original logo.... the gray is lifeless....
I do not understand the reasoning behind making everything grey. The new layout and style are less compelling, more emotionless, and overall off-putting.
It is not mandatory to Apple-ize every wesite on the Internet
I don't care the colors or anything, we need more GOOD OLD GAMES!!!
Less color is just boring and bland, I used to compliment the difference between the design of gog and steam. I really liked how gog seemed "less menacing" than steam.
Old Color sheme for me too please. The new one is confusing with another site I frequent. <a href="http://Subsim.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br />
Subsim.com</a> has a very similar one.
:)
Please make the black part of the logo purple like the one on GoG galaxy.
Where is the "show most recent/most useful review" option? Gone forever like many features? ...
Not a big deal, but voted anyway since it's clearly worse than before. Like the rest of the pages..
I too preferred the old logo colors.
Additionally the new black and white logo is harder to spot in my browser bookmarks than the older one.
Well regional pricing was "silently" introduced together with the new web design so it is REALLY fitting with changing to A BLACK icon. It should acturly have been some nice cool looking Friendly black letter's on a black background :-P
www.gog.com/forum/general/newly_regionalpriced_games
I don't understand why they changed it. It looked great the way it did, and now I can barely notice it. Light grey inside darker grey, I mean... WTF?
Also, it's kind of weird that the gog.com logo is transparent, instead of solid... The webpage contents are visible under it...
The distinct neon green color is an integral part of what makes the gog.com unique. Pretty much every big fish out there, such as Steam, goes with dull metallic grey colors for their logos... Changing the gog logo into such a simplified grey logo makes it look like some pathetic knockoff of the Atari text font. Return the shiny green logo, please!
I kinda like it though, although adding a splash of color to the logo (perhaps coloring the letters in or making the background of the logo green) wouldn't hurt.
Yet another entry in the "It ain't broke, but we still decided to fix it" list.
"oc = of", sorry.
Another thing that is missing is the search button on the main page.
I'm against clean design, my opinion is, if we have millions oc colors, why stays only with clear blue and gray/black/white? The new design was not so bad (like MobyGames change sometime ago), but I didn't liked too much.
What is with all this grey and monochrome? the old colored layout was so much better. now everything just looks the same.
I liked the old layout much better. Unlike the old layout, the new layout doesn't entice me to linger. I hope you can make some changes; I agree with another poster who said that it's just no fun.
colorize on mouse over! :)
The new layout seems mostly fine to me, but I feel that the Gog.com logo should pop out instead of blending in.
Agreed the old color logo would have been nicer. You could also do something about the excessive boldness of the fonts - I believe it's a bit exaggerated, in the sense that some areas would look more streamlined if the font was not bold/all uppercase.
The new layout just sucks, while it might look okay from a style perspective, IT'S JUST NO FUN. Games are supposed to be fun, this looks like visiting a rainy day.. crap
More - restore colour to the whole page! :) New design is OK, but it can use more colours from the old one - green, yellow and grey were nice.
Guys the new gog logo is purple as the colour of Galaxy client is going to be. Check gogs youtube page, twiiter and others. Its there for all to see so there is no point to argue about the yellow green logo anymore. Let them just bring the purple one here since its everywhere now.
Without color the logo kind of looks like a cattle brand... I miss the gold logo, though an ever-changing color or artistic effect would be fine as well.
I quite like the design changes. I'm not sure why people claim it's more grey than the old site when the old site was *very* grey. With the new site the home page has a colourful background with big bright images. Ditto for the game and movie pages. I think people have forgotten just how grey the old site was. Sure, it had more shades of grey but it wasn't more colourful.
But the new logo just bugs me...
Agreed, the old logo was really the icing on the cake. I do not have much other complaints about the new design though. It feels pretty good.
Make GOG colorful again. Shades of grey or monochromaticy (yes I know it's not a real word, but Steam just went blue) taking over websites (I'm looking at you, Google-era YouTube) need to stop.
Oh, and *bleep* the controlling shareholders if there are any. Stop with the bottom line.
