Narf_the_Mouse With Windows 10 Community Technical Preview out for a few months, this seems like a prime time to get started on adding the new platform.
It would be great if I could play all or most GoG games on Windows 10 on release day.

LinuxFire We are still FAR from the stability, and all the other benefits of Linux, but Windows 10 integrates part of the Linux kernel in 2020, and the OS of M$ works much better now. _ Which may explain why we did not go to 10% of Linux users with the end of W7! _ If this continuous evolution and the Windows kernel is removed... Then Windows will become one more Linux version, with few native games ;-)
Time4Tea Windows 10 is trash. If you want a great modern OS with pain-free gaming, YOU should consider switching to Linux! :P
drmsux You can always install or dual boot an OS that you can run games on if you absolutely have to use Windows 10. But Windows 10 is basically DRM in operating system form. I'm puzzled by how many people support GOG, but somehow use a DRM operating system at the same time.
mattdawolf this is all/mostly dosbox. No reason there can't be native linux support.
mattdawolf I want ubuntu support. I was just getting things to work in W10 VM, then the latest update killed functionality. Nothing works now.

TheRealValky Windows 10 should not get any support for games to run. It's a terrible OS and if you support microsoft and use it then you deserve every bad thing that happens to you. Instead, keep windows 7 support and INCREASE linux compatibility games so there can be an option to finally be free of windows like GOG allowed us to be free of steam.
Woodgrail I bought a game, did not realize it wasn't compatible with Windows 10 before it was too late. Is it too late for me than, did I just waste money on nothing. I have changed settings. The game starts, I can see the opening intro, but as soon as the game actually start the picture is just frozen. I can hear sound while moving the mouse around, so it work. It's just no way to play the game with a frozen screen. Please help
That_PS_Guy I've noticed that some games don't work on Windows 10. Some even say the the compatibility with Windows 10 could prevent the game from running. I won't be able to play some games forever on Windows 7 or 8 because the computers I have those on will die someday. If GOG can figure this out with an emulator or even any code that they obtain, I would be very grateful
andreasaspenberg2 i agree that they should. if they can not fix them because they lack the code, they should ship them with a good windows emulator.
Kelefane I noticed that on quite a few various DosBox games that Windows 10 along with Windows 7 and 8 were removed for some reason under the system requirements. Basically all the Ultimas and Might and Magic and Master of Magic and many others had these OS's removed in the description. Any idea why( I made a post about it in the general forum.
chaosphoto Right click on the icon for the game, select "troubleshoot compatibility" let that run. When it stops and gives you a choice go to the manual choice and select the Windows 8 option. Press the test button and if the game runs then exit and save the settings for that game and voila, it will be sorted. My Xenonauts refused to run until I did this then it ran beautifully although my laptop video card running at 3280 means I need to squint a bit :).
Kaguya-hime Any game is supported on Windows 10 if you using ACT made by microsoft. This is enhanced default compatibility tool. Instead of lauchning with Windows 98/XP/7 you may choose from 435 settings. Here is guide how to use it. Svenos These games works with wine on linux, but not on windows 10... This OS fight like a dairy farmer.

Please fix GOG. These older games, patched/fixed to be compatible with modern machines are the first reason why I'm here in the first place. That actually come first, then the DRM free policy.

hanshan Use Win 7 or 8 for pc gaming compatibility even if you need to use dual boot or dual machines. Microsoft has firmly decided upon a forced patches strategy and is intent on moving pc's to dumb terminals or thin client. They aim to break stuff to push you to their content and content partners in the long run. (Screw that, moving to linux... wait, Microsoft is trying to lock up linux in patents courts too.) Microsoft doesnt give a crap about breaking your favorite software & all your games... because they aim to monopolize all content and force everyone into subscriptions even for your very own data. With 10 you dont have rights to anything on your pc.

KnightW0lf I updated a 3 weeks after win 10 came out so far i have had no problems they have been working to get games supported to windows 10 about a week or so before windows 10 came out also @ KLUMPEN0815 that's restricting a service it would be like gog censoring German games because of there politics
jorlin As more and more people are pestered into upgrades and given the bad track record for games that Win10 currently has, I support this, though I prefer a native port to a free OS( as in free speech) like Linux.
romanovzky I have been having irregular and varying results with many titles on Windows 10, which are otherwise labelled as supported by GOG on Windows 10.
While I also have a linux installation, and many Windows games run flawlessly on Wine, I do feel this is an important issue (I retain my Windows 10 installation for gaming reasons that are beyond GOG, i.e. Steam, Origin, etc).
I believe that GOG uses Windows 10 supported statements too loosely without actually assessing the true compatibility of their titles on Windows 10. I believe that many times simple fixes, like installing old direct-x runtimes and etc, should be stated on installation or provided with the installer on Windows 10.
The truth is that many games simply seem to lose compatibility and break after some updates (on Windows side I reckon) and so the installer should be made self-sufficient in order to guarantee the game will in fact run.

ChocolateLab Some games aren't running on Windows 10 because of the missing DRM drivers for Safedisc. Since games on GOG are without DRM, this shouldn't be a problem for GOG.
dick1982 would be nice. but work on Win8 compatibility first? most PCs sold on the market now have Win8 installed as a default OS.
i doubt MS would abandon Win8 yet. Not if Win 10 it turns out to be worse in general.

lostintime Surprised more people are not worried about this yet. With every windows release a part of me panics that some of my favorite games from the late 90s and early 00s will no longer work. In the past I have avoided OS upgrades for this reason alone. The games that I have working I wish to have them stay working, that is why GOG has always been the best.
