I'd love to have a android version! :)
Like Steam's App. I can search the store and my games list, etc. It would be a great way to have information on new games.
Even if you couldn't purchase games from the app, I still think it would be a great addition. Android!
This would be a great idea. It would be great if the Android version included the PC one and viceversa, but I wouldn't mind buying a few select Android versions were that not to be the case.
I'd love the iOS version :) Sounds great.
It would be awesome, if GOG.com could make some deal with the creators of DOSBOX and DOSBOX Turbo on Android in order to sell the GOG.com directly to the Android devices through some dedicated app. The Dosbox turbo works perfectly well and it handles even games like Dungeon Keeper or Tiberium Dawn. Please, guys, could you join forces with Dosbox (Turbo)?
I just added a wish similiar to this just a moment ago.after I did i found this one so mine will maybe be deleted although mine had more to do with a mobile gog downloader.the only internet I have is mobile broadband and i only get 5gis of hispeed a month so i thought gogdownloaeder app were you could download to a phone or tablet might be a good idea.
This is something really important for people like me who have close to no free time to go to a computer during the weekdays, which ends up limiting a lot my ability to irresponsibly spend my hard earned money. I end up buying a lot of steam games on my steam android app. Please do the same, gog! Using the website interface on my terrible 3G connection is just too bothersome and time consuming for me to care.
This would be amazing
Even if it's just a store / library management app with community features and GOG Downloader support, I'd be perfectly fine with that.
For Android users, there already exists an awesome DosBox app called "DosBox Turbo". Plays GOG games beautifully, and has an integrated bookshelf manager that kind of looks like the GOG manager.
@mathew.beale: But GOG didn't make DOSbox, they just use it in their releases. All GOG really do is use compatibility programs made by other people, then buy the license to distribute the games from the publisher. And to everyone else that seems to be taking this the wrong way: the description says nothing about the app playing games on your phone.
Yep, this would be a great thing. Or at least make a mobile version of the site; it's really awkward and glitchy to view and navigate on an iPhone.
Definitely need an app to play some of the old classics on Android - it must be possible to build an engine that will run old DOS games on android - I know there are existing DOSBOX apps, but those are poorly implemented - surely GoG could do better and make a killing!
I can get behind the Android idea 100%, but doesn't Apple still insist that the only way you can install stuff on iOS is through the app store? I'm not sure that targeting the "jailbroken" market is very... prudent, especially nowadays when Apple seems to be doing it's best to redefine itself as a Lawsuit-company that happens to make trendy gadgetry...
Playing old DOS games on an iOS or Android device would definitely be possible - even early Windows / Mac games. For example, the original Baldur's Gate is being ported to iOS and being released this summer. There is a DOS emulator that keeps getting posted and then pulled from the Apple App Store that includes DOS games (keeps getting pulled due to licensing issues).
Agreed, I realize playing games on a mobile device isn't going to be possible, but an app or at least a mobile device optimized version of the site would be nice.
Don't forget windows phone. If your going to do Apps, do them all.
I bought my first game on GOG while away from home. My intention was to play it via DOS Box on my tablet. I figure "DRM-free? that's great, so I just download a zip with the files on it and extract to a folder, right?" Well, I know now that I need to be at a windows PC to run an installer. (A windows based installer for a classic DOS game) From there on, its just a simple file transfer. It would be nice to be able to skip the installer and extract the files on my Android.
This would be absolutely brilliant, for me I would like the ability to purchase games using the app and tell games to download at my home computer from my phone.
