Voted for this as well as the other X-COM games.
available now drn free in humble bundle
Why is this still not on GOG? Any official statement?
I have to agree with some of the others here. If Gamersgate has it DRM free, then there can't be much reason why it's not being sold here. Yes, there is Xenonaughts available on here now, which is supposed to be it's "spiritual successor" but it still doesn't make it X-Com.
I hope the game comes to GOG, with OpenXcom on top of it. That would make this distribution of the game superior to Steam's offering.
if Gamergate has all the old school x-com games...why is it not on GOG ? I wanna buy it here and not somewhere else....please gog , bring ufo home where it belongs
I love all the original three games. In with them!
As I wrote in "new XCOM" request - I consider myself a true "old" 1993 XCOM/Ufo Defense veteran (I played it once every single year between 1998 and 2013), and I had lots of fun (and frustration) with UFO Aftermath and Aftershock mady by Altar. THIS GAME IS A TRUE LEGEND that deserves to be called so. Sure I do not know a thing about copyright issues, but if any game should have its place on GOG, this is The One (maybe with it clone/sequel Terror from the Deep - do not bother yourselves with Apocalypse and what followed). DosBox in small window is not the best way to play it... so please, please, pretty please, make "it" happen:)
www.pretey.com and www.moredz.com
Gamergate has all xcom DRM free no steam with them too.
I would love a non-steam version of this classic! Especially with all the hype of the new remakes out now, this should sell well.
This is "THE ONE" i searched first for and after not seeing this one i had not looked gog for a time until a friend told me of some other games i might be interested in (and recently bought a bunch)
How is this game not on GoG?!
I'd kill to have you guys release the first three XCOM games, particularly Apocalypse, since I haven't played it and TFTD is basically a harder, underwater UFOD mod.
I'm actually surprised that none of the X-com games on on the GOG listing... but then, with everything they offer, I'm sure it's only a matter of time, right?!
if i have to say ONLY ONE biggest black hole in the GOG offer list, so it would be this one golden game - UFO: enemy unknown (UFO 1) (UFO 2: terror from the deep - would be second:-)
You have my vote.
I never had the chance to experience the original X-COM and would be thrilled to see it on GOG!
this is an all time great game, and i believe there is a freeware version of it that works on modern operating systems. i have it installed and working but can't remember where i found it. it is/was on some kind of fan tribute site
When I came to GoG, it was to acquire 5 old games, I only have 4 of them to date, can we guess which one is missing?
The BEST old game on Good Old Games? Yes Please!
The special game for the deserted island. A deserted island with electricity of course.
Mario is right - the game is dangerous and you will lose too much time to it! Once the smoke clears and you've destroyed the alien menace you'll look back at your wrecked social life and think, "at what cost.."
i need an XCOM here with no DRM and plenty of mod capability's.........please?
Add X-COM...one of my favourite games
New XCOM is fantastic but it would be awesome to bring back the original and present it to gamers who didn't try that sweet game when it first came out.
@ Mario. I have no job, I have no girlfriend, I have no youth left; but worse - much worse...I have no X-COM!
FYI re: STEAM version. The Steam version of X-COM does not use DRM. Steam installs the game on your hard drive and treats it as a Steam game, but you can simply run the game directly from its directory and bypass Steam altogether.
I wanted to pick this game up just Today actually and came here looking for it. To my Shock it wasn't available here but it IS on both gamestop Impulse AND Steam?! Why not here?!
I'm against this game on GoG. Hear me: you will lose your job, you will lose your girlfriend, your family will shun you, you will be white as snow due to the lack of sunshine, you will be dreaming wonderful colorful dreams with bases deep under the ground, defending it against the retaliative alien invasion, and you will be having a blast. It will wreck your youth and teach you how to manage a business entity, if you are really good you will wish for the flow of the ugly aliens to never stop, if you are not, don't worry. Humanity deserved the annihilation anyway. I play this game form time to time. The world stops to exist and it is hard not to spend 10 or 12 or 14 or more hours a day working hard on progress. You will develop strategies, you will load saves, you will do planning, development and arming of your troops. You will enjoy it.
I'd love this series on Gog :]
Would love to try the older games after enjoying the remake so much.
I own this on CD and on Steam, why not on GOG?
So... simply the MOTHER of turn based tactical gaming. TFOD expanded the genius and if you needed it; Apolcalypse gave you the graphic hit. GOG is the last hope...
We need more vote! Spread the word.
I would definitely buy X-Com and X-Com 2: Terror from the Deep.
Bellbarrs, most of the Mac Retro games on here use Boxer, a DOSBox frontend, to run. If X-COM were to get onto this site, a mac version would almost certainly be available too, as it runs perfectly in Boxer.
Sorry to say this to crush your spirits but as far as I know and what I've seen. There will never be a mac port. Its sad but the only way you can play it is on DOS on a mac or go to the option of cutting your memory of your mac about in half to use the windows option and play X-COM:UFOD and other pc games but there is a limit from what I heard. I hope this somewhat helps.
Would like to see a Mac version if possible (I know it was never made for the Mac, but other GOG games available for the Mac like Martian Dreams weren't made for the Mac either).
Open x-com Version 0.9!! cmon gog give it to us this gem!!
If you can find a CD copy on amazon or ebay or something, there is no drm on the cd as far as I'm aware. I installed from my original disk and I can play with no disk in drive.
frankly, i am quite shocked these classic gems are missing here... i was just itching to buy this turn-based goodness... and i dont want it on steam, i want it here ;)
As the remake came out, I wanted to play this, but I was surprised not to find it on GoG. Please add this and/or the similar UFO trilogy.
Gog, Please do want you can to get this into your collection. I'm sure I speak for everyone here is PURE UTTER INSANITY! I have the Collectors Edition CD of this game patched and Modded and regardless of all the games that pass through my computer this one has a permanent stay and it would even if it took up half my HD. I love this game that much.
Guys... this game is on GamersGate without DRM (unless GamersGate has a client and I completely missed it), if that's why you're not just getting it on Steam.
I would also like to make a wish for this one. And if possible, to make the W7 version bug-free.
This is already on Steam for $4.55
Now that the veritable "remake" from last year is out, I'd love to have the chance to go back and play this old game.
Not on GOG already because 2K Games are idiots.
Please add this game and its sequels
