Bellbarrs, most of the Mac Retro games on here use Boxer, a DOSBox frontend, to run. If X-COM were to get onto this site, a mac version would almost certainly be available too, as it runs perfectly in Boxer.

Sorry to say this to crush your spirits but as far as I know and what I've seen. There will never be a mac port. Its sad but the only way you can play it is on DOS on a mac or go to the option of cutting your memory of your mac about in half to use the windows option and play X-COM:UFOD and other pc games but there is a limit from what I heard. I hope this somewhat helps.

Would like to see a Mac version if possible (I know it was never made for the Mac, but other GOG games available for the Mac like Martian Dreams weren't made for the Mac either).

If you can find a CD copy on amazon or ebay or something, there is no drm on the cd as far as I'm aware. I installed from my original disk and I can play with no disk in drive.

Gog, Please do want you can to get this into your collection. I'm sure I speak for everyone here is PURE UTTER INSANITY! I have the Collectors Edition CD of this game patched and Modded and regardless of all the games that pass through my computer this one has a permanent stay and it would even if it took up half my HD. I love this game that much.

I would definitely purchase this, though the one I played was X-Com : Terror from the Deep on the PlayStation. I MUST have been pretty near the end because I played it to death and I can't remember why I stopped. The graphics in the PS version were pretty good compared with the PC version I seem to remember. One of the most suspenseful games of all time - frequently the music starts playing in my mind's ear. Also, Warhammer : Shadow of the Horned Rat and Myth : Soulblighter.

Firaxis recently released a remake of classic x-com game. It's a very good remake which is ALMOST as good as classic version :) I hope the classic will show up here on gog.com. I also hope that there will be a LINUX version of the game so booting into windows evaluation won't be necessary to play it.

Please GoG do X-COM ufo defense (and TftD while you're at it =D) I already have it on steam but steam blows and I hate being forced to be online to play a single player game through a horrible client

@Kyoshiro80 One of the pillars of GOG and the reason a lot of us buy games here is the complete lack of DRM. So for those of us who don't want to run steam every time we want to play a game it would be nice.

Surprised X-COM is this far down the list. I suppose it's already on Steam, but it would be nice to have it better adapted to modern systems (Steam versions dosbox settings are awful) and packaged with manual/soundtrack/extras.

X-COM really deserves to be on GOG. Terrific game. As many have already mentioned, now is a great time to get it on the site, as the remakes are coming real soon and interest is sure to spike for the older games.

Just started playing this game for the first time, unmodded and modded (ai, ufo extender etc). Would have bought it here if gog had it at the time. Takes a bit of tweaking around to get it working normally in Win7, it was worth it though. This Deserves the gog treatment!
