If the soundtrack is included then I would gladly buy the game again.
Just be sure to secure the soundtrack as well, both in and out of the games. Quake I's soundtrack was made by Nine Inch Nails... No vote for me though, I only vote for single games.
I enjoyed playing the quake series and I would be glad to see them on gog.
@VanishedOne: Yes, indeed. I've just abused of the DRM word but you've totally understand what I was talking about. Well, hopefully one day we will se here Quake as well.........maybe
@Mitsuhashi80 Licensed, not DRM'd. It's a different problem.
1. One title only - don’t mention series, expansions or packs
True, Bethesda does not own the Quake IP. But ZeniMax owns id software. And most people say "Bethesda" when they actually mean "ZeniMax".
@asdfxc920 its not up to Bethesda as they only published it, they don't own the quake series id software does so ultimately its up to id software to allow GOG to put them on here.
Don't get your hopes up. Bethesda seems to really hate putting any of their IPs on GOG for some reason.
@VanishedOne: True, the engine is open source. However the original game maps and music are still licensed. This is stated also in the main page of ioquake: ioquake3.org/get-it/ I guess this old gem still generates revenue for other platforms, otherwise I have no idea why is not yet drm free.
@Mitsuhashi80 A very lengthy process to make a game DRM-free? Only if it had DRM baked into its code originally. These games are so far from that situation that their engines are now open source.
I've basically begged for this game even in the facebook page. They told me that it is a very lengthy process to turn a game into DRM Free. I am sure they would love to have Quake here on GOG but it takes a lot of time.
I would love to see all four Quake games make an appearance on GOG. Particularly Quake 1 & 2 with their mission/expansion packs with the CD audio included.
Oh, how I'd love to have at least the first two Quake titles with all the extras... :D
Yeah, I really want this as well. Quake and Quake II are a must! But I won't shy away from Quake III Arena and Quake IV. I especially liked the story in IV.
Include the OST for Quake II and I'd be sold - I own it on Q2 on CD as well as with Q4, but it'd be super awesome to see the game work with the OST without a disc in the drive.
If I'm not mistaken, the source code is free, but the assets (e.g. maps, graphics, sounds) are still owned by id, and that's what you pay for when you buy the games. That's why you can download games like (the original) Nexuiz for free, but still have to pay for Quake.
Screw the trilogy, just give us Quake and Quake II. They were the only ones in the series worth playing.
Would be nice. Source code is free but game data is still commercial as per id's conditions for source releases. These games are on steam but require mods to get all 3 games to work and the music in Quake 1 and 2 is missing as it is CD Audio (Can download thankfully with mods but it took a lot of hunting!), Like Jedi Knight and Kingpin steam did a really slack job!!
I don't care if the games are open source or not. I'd pay a few bucks to have them all in one, easy place to download, especially if they came with all of the expansions.
these game engines are all gpl open source (except quake 4) so no real need to add these to gog
The source code of all Quake version are free. <a href="http://GoG.com" class="light_un" target="_blank"><br /> GoG.com</a> can personalize the game easier!
