Project Eden completed
Thank you GOG! Thank you so much!
Hey, now. You could fall a bit MORE than three feet in PE. it's just that drops were either really short and survivable or death drops. And as there's no platforming to do, jumping would feel strange here. Especially when combined with the no invisible walls part. Players would just jump off stuff and die a lot, I bet (hee hee).
That said, this is an awesome game MORE need to play. It's Core Design at their best in terms of the level designs that force you to think ahead and the fact that there's no penalty for failure other than going back to the last regen point.
The ending is still stupid and weird (I "got" it, but it still feels like they ran out of money and had to do something in a "Bibble, Bibble... where's my fish?" manner. +50 XP if you know where that quote is from, by the way... I should install my discs and see if this still runs. I want to play it now. I have the PS2 version as well (which is great and that split-screen on a big TV for up to for works excellently)...
Definitely underrated. I still have this on CD and I'd love to have it DRM free from GOG.
I like the idea of a coop focused squad-based game where each squad member has to use their unique abilities, and the players have to think a bit, to solve puzzles and advance. There hasn't been another game like that since, to my knowledge.
I wish they'd released the level designer & editing tools that were promised.
The game had some quirks, like if you're shooting and you "drag" your energy beam weapon over an enemy they will take no damage; you must first target an enemy before you can harm him, as well as the rather dumb inability of any character to jump (I could understand the hulking cyborg) or fall more than 3 feet without taking nigh-fatal damage.
Really curious about this one, never got to play it.
Yes it works fine even on Win7 x64. I have it on CD and would *love* to have it DRM free from GOG...
@1Garret: You are kidding right? I've played this game with no probs at all on both XP and Vista 64. You sure you installed the latest patch (ver. 1.02)?
Great and underrated game, made by some original creators of Tomb Raider series. I have this game but don't works on Windows Xp or above so GOG please patch this jewel and sell!
Indeed, a really good game!
A criminally underrated game by the same devs of Tomb Raider (Core Design).
