BTW still waiting for when/if KONAMI ports MGS3 & 4 to PC. (I doubt they ever will. And I refuse to buy a PS3 to only play ONE game!) (Don't you hate it when a franchise is ported to PC and then after 2 titles or so, they never port any more titles? I'm thinking Halo. And I refuse to buy a XBOX360 to only play ONE game!)

Oh I nearly forgot to add the most important version difference. All the FMV cutscenes in the PC version do not play on modern hardware. Only the audio plays against a black screen. I searched for some time for a fix or patch (official or fan) but no luck. This is something GOG will have to work on if they ever get the rights.

My $0.05: I have completed both the PC & PSX version multiple times. Here's the difference: The PC version has higher res (especially with a fan patch) however the PSX version is superior. Why? It has the staff ghosts (missing on PC version) and it is the ORIGINAL! Don't get me wrong, the PC version is a very good port but it's still a port. And in places you can tell. Having said that, if you want to play MGS and don't have the PSX version then play the PC version. (Votes).

Considering the quality port done by Microsoft, I hope someone at GOG gets some sort of deal put together between them, Konami, and any weird exclusivity deals that might still exist. I mean, MGS is multi-platform now, so it only makes sense to bring it to the service (similar to how Square re-released FF7 on their website).

Is it a fully Konami owned franchise, or do Sony own part of it? If it's only Konami, it wouldn't be impossible to get it here, I think, with Sony it's probably harder, as they probably prefer people get their PS1/PS2 Classics releases on PSN instead.

I forgot that this had a PC port. I have PC version of MGS2 though, and there is a fix to get it working on Win7. I can't remember what it was though (I think it was something about the sound settings?) Anyway, it's one of my top 5 favourite games. I always wanted the first one.

darkblood777, the PC version ran in much higher resolutions than the PSX version, and had some other slick improvements. It was a shockingly well-done port, especially considering how bad the FF7 one was.

They actually did release this on PC for Windows XP. It didn't have any graphical improvements, but it was at least accessible to non Playstation owners.

I'm a big Metal Gear fan. One of the only reasons I own a console is for the series. Getting it on pc (gog specifically) would be amazing.

I loved this game, i wish i could still play this on PC but on all modern PC's the FMV refuse to play (normal in-game scenes still work but proper FMV like the scene after the battle with ocelot and the ending sequence where the credits come up refuse to play) and you just get a box in the middle of the screen thats blank while the audio still plays. So it would be nice to see this on GOG if they can fix the video problem.

This was a good port suprisingly. It looked a lot better than the Playstation version, but unfortunately is unplayable with modern video cards. Right now the easiest way to play it is to pirate a rom and play it on a PS1 emulator, GOG needs to fix that.
