You can buy it from Blizzard Store, it's DRM-Free there too (no clients required). This wish it's pointless. If you own the boxed version redeem the CD-Keys on your battle.net account and it automatically convert the CD-Key in a new 26 digits key which you'll must use to play the digital version of the game (included the expansion) you've reedemed. This works also for the boxed versions of Starcraft + Brood War, and Warcraft III + The Frozen Throne.

Because GOG budles are too cool. Besides, they arm the whole game in just 1 installer, Diablo II is a 3 CD set, plus the expansion... GOG will make a great work with were besides, is needed a WideScreen fix.

Blizzard will never sell their games in a competitor's e-store, but I would much rather have their games on GOG :)

Yea, this is ridiculous. Diablo I, Warcraft 1&2 have some merit since you can't get them digitally at all. But Diablo II is still sold from Blizzard. You can just buy it there!

Patakreps, I don't like to put people down, but you give me no choice. This is a silly idea because as people have said, you can buy the game directly from Blizzard.

This wish doesn't make any sense. Blizzard will let no company sell digital copies of their games. If you want it, you have to buy it from them.

I would absolutely love if GOG added Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction, I've been looking forever to buy it and I'm much more comfortable giving GOG my money. In all honesty I doubt Blizzard wouldn't let GOG, Blizz only has DRM on their more modern games. Diablo 2, Warcraft 3, and anything older could all probably be added to GOG.

Diablo 2 has no copy protection anymore, if you apply the most recent patches on the retail version.

Naturally, any battle.net activity ties the game to the old battle.net.

Same thing with Warcraft 3 and I seriously doubt that Blizzard-Activision goes through a game shop if they can still sell these games directly via their web site.

I had bought Diablo 2 + expansion back in the day, for myself, and for gift to best friend of the time... I had bought it some years ago, in Battlechest, both for me, and another former best friend of the time... If i ever saw it here on GoG, i would absolutely purchase it for a FIFTH and final (best) time! But packaged with Lord of Destruction, please! Also, after 1,09, game was nerfed, gameplay changed, and new changes, which notably were NOT performed by Blizzard-North (the creating party), repelled many old players... It would be good if somehow game here was on 1,09, somehow, although i seriously doubt it both as an ability or a possibility (because connecting to B-net would automatically update it, and if not, probably cannot communicate with others, if version is not the same for all).

I would absolutely purchase it, DRM free, and above all, Blizzard FREE!

For all those people who have a problem running Diablo 2. I had a similar problem with XP I seem to recall and also when I got my new computer with Windows 7. If you just install Diablo 2 there is a problem, but if you install LoD as well then it works fine.

Also if you have already bought them and still have the legitimate CD-key, you can go to the Blizzard website, log in to your bnet account and enter the CD-key and Blizzard will detect what product has that key and a digital installer of the most recent patched version will be added to your bnet account for download at no extra cost. This is great for people who like digital distribution or have lost their discs. I don't know if the older games would work on the new operating systems though. I don't know if you can still buy them online though, I haven't really looked. It would make sense that they would.

I don't think Blizzard sells either this or the old Warcraft games anymore - if they do, I can't find them on their new store. The only games it shows are Starcraft 2, Diablo 3, WoW, etc.. Their newer stuff.. I would love to be able to purchase some of their older games here!

@slipknot2k4: The difference it's only that it's digital, the game it's full with cinematics, I repeat, shut up if you don't know what you're talking about. The digital version is FULL with cinematics. I can't stand people like you who post false informations. And guys, If you own the physical copies just register the CD key on your battle.net account so you'll have also the digital version FULL OF EVERYTHING, don't listen to that clueless user.

Okay. I really, REALLY hope that this game will come on GOG, although I know that it probably not will happen while Blizzard still exists.
But, for all of you, it is actually possible to play it w/o DRM (yes, the legal copy, both vanilla and LoD), by copying MUSIC.MPQ from the disc to the game directory.
A strange thing is, though, that when it's run under WINE / Ubuntu, it won't play, if you launch it from a shortcut / link, but if you click the game executable itself (run it from the folder), it can actually run with no problems.

well to be honest, you still may buy this game in the Blizzard shop, online and with direct download, but on my Windows Vista it plays rather ugly, the screenresolution is not up to date and therefore it's not the same fun than in the old days of Diablo II. But with Blizzard still selling this, you won't see any chance to get this on GOG.

Sure it does. Is it a game? Check. Is it old? Check. Is it DRM-free? Excluding the CD key, yes. Will Blizzard stop their greedy ways and release this on GOG? Not on your life.

Of course Diablo II has to be on this list. Of course I still have Diablo II and it runs on my new computer. But what is necessary, is to give it a rejuvenation treat and to actualize it for newer computers, a bigger inventory and an actualized graphic-resolution, and somewhat texture-polishing (not too much, only the existing in better resolution - no changes to the core of the game.

If any of you have the original cd's you only need to log onto Battlenet and type in the cdkey for the game. You'll be able to download an updated win x64 playable version. They also sell it in both downloadable and retail versions in their store. There's no way Blizzard will release it to GoG when they still sell it themselves.
