The only thing I'd add in BG:EE is a boost in tavern's prices xD 8$ fo a Royal bed is kind of a joke lol But I like playing on my tablet.

Personally, I liked the EE and haven't noticed any bugs or anything. I admit, I'm sure I could mod the crap out of my Baldur's Gate game, but quite frankly, I'm lazy and this edition works fine. Should I ever decide to mod Baldur's Gate, I have the version I purchased from gog that I can work with. I do wish they had enhanced the GUI, for all of Baldur's Gate's shining glory, that was the one place it was lacking (Which I noticed is common in D&D based games, especially NWN 1 and 2. Perhaps it's the distraction the emphasis on the game mechanics provides?). If, in the long run, this means there's a potential for a Baldur's Gate 3, I'd be totally down with that. I know that had BGEE been available here on GOG, I would have purchased it here rather than Steam, if that's any help.

I honestly don't understand the bashing the Enhanced Edition is getting. So it doesn't do everything all the mods do... so what? The whole point is its a single, concise package that doesn't take any tinkering whatsoever to get running with the improvements it does have, not that its better than every mod ever created. Modders by the luxury of not having to answer to anyone else can mod anything into a game that they'd like to. As for bugs, EVERYTHING has bugs on release, patches are released to resolve them.

I love it when people want to bash other games because they don't want more variety. If you don't like the game, just simply don't buy it. Because it wasn't made in the 90's doesn't mean you can assume it blows. Also some of the major modders and supporters are already creating mods and supporting the EE's. SCS and Shadow Keeper are already available.

I hope GOG stays away from this atrocity and keeps their old better version

In summary, Beamdog is clearly making "EEs" of the original BG series to fund their ambitious goal of BG3. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this idea (in fact it's a great idea), the quality of the EEs are rather insulting and inferior to a fully fan-modded version of BG that is already available and FREE.

Even though I bought the complete saga from GOG, I bought the EE on Steam just because (1) I love BG (2) I have OCD and must have a complete colleciton of the things I love and (3) In hopes of BG3. Although I'm doubtful of the success of BG3 since BG2:TOB IMHO closed off the saga fairly completely (maybe BG3 you will play as a deity and be like Planescape?), the sheer potential was enough for me. And that is really the ONLY real reason to buy the EE. Fan-made bug fixes, companions and graphical enhancements do everything the EE does and arguably more. My modded version of the original BG IMO is far better than the EE and more importantly it was all customed to my tastes and it was all FREE. So I'm pretty meh about it being on GoG but I'm happy for anything that will spread the glory of BG so I don't care either way. Just some things to consider though.

After seeing what a bug-ridden disaster EE is, does anyone still want this?

As of this post there is only an "Enhanced" version of the first Baldur's Gate game and to be frank it is absolutely a complete rip off. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING is added to the game that a free mod doesn't already do and do better. A complete and total waste of money. While Beamdog is contractually obligated to make an "enhanced" version of the second Baldur's Gate if it is anything like the first I highly discourage people from wasting their time or money on it. Just my 2 cents.

There is room for both a BG/BG:EE and BGII/BGII:EE, much like how RealMyst and Myst: Masterpiece Edition are both on GoG. I sincerely hope Beamdog and Overhaul can work something out to get the game on here.
