An ugly, messy, bug pile. The "enhanced" edition is actually an enhanced bugfest. Plus, with all nice cheesy exploits removed. A real piece of crap. Do yourselves a favor and stay away.
just bought BG and BG2 complete. WOuld have bought the enhanced edition if available.
First User Reports of BG: EE are pretty positive: It seems like Beamdog really improved fonts and spell effect a lot and the new party members quests are well recieved. So yes, I want to see this here, but please, Beamdog, release it with german language package!
@LockedGate 8gp is alot of money in the medieval setting, it would be enough for a family to live on for well over atleast a year if spent wisely.
i wish they would keep making the single player Baldurs gate / icewind dale games. i like the old grafic, the grafic alone made me never finish any neverwinter game.
I have played BG 1 with mods. I like the EE version. The new authors have added there own style to it. The small amount of improvements added, add a new zing to it. (The cinematics have been changed to NWN2 style). I don't want them to do BG3, however because they may ruin the story.
And roll on BG3!
Most of these comments are absolute tosh. I have a Mac and for most of us, your fangled 'mods' which 'do all everything the EE does, but for free' will not work at all. This is partly due to a stupid packaging system, and mostly due to mod authors who package everything as an exe. Yes, there's wine, and I use wine alot, but if you've never wrestled with even trying to get vanilla working you really have no right to suggest that as an option. I never played the original BG back in the day so the mods are hardly 'free', either - you still have to buy the game, either way. How many of you who complain about it being a buggy mess have actually tried it? Or are you just going on second-hand out-dated reviews? I just finished playing through it today - it's a gorgeous, polished gem, no bugs to be seen anywhere. I would gladly buy this again and am anxiously looking forward to the sequel.
I will say this if you don't add this steam will also if you don't you wont get dis mans money >.< also I have played bg2 bg1 the ps2 games of bg also all the neverwinters pretty much any game that has to due with it. I love the story adding onto it would be nice personally I don't think there was enough to due with the keep you get in bg2 it was to short. I wish it had stuff that happened to it like hire guards horses in the stable as there is non even though the stable area gets I like to feel like a king kinda why I love suikoden 2 so much. Stop having your stuff in a bunch if you don't want to buy it don't or at least wait till it comes out then complain about it if it really is bad.
We really don't need this since we have BG2 and a mod guide here already.
I want the ability to vote against things being added. Like this. x2
The only thing I'd add in BG:EE is a boost in tavern's prices xD 8$ fo a Royal bed is kind of a joke lol But I like playing on my tablet.

Personally, I liked the EE and haven't noticed any bugs or anything. I admit, I'm sure I could mod the crap out of my Baldur's Gate game, but quite frankly, I'm lazy and this edition works fine. Should I ever decide to mod Baldur's Gate, I have the version I purchased from gog that I can work with. I do wish they had enhanced the GUI, for all of Baldur's Gate's shining glory, that was the one place it was lacking (Which I noticed is common in D&D based games, especially NWN 1 and 2. Perhaps it's the distraction the emphasis on the game mechanics provides?). If, in the long run, this means there's a potential for a Baldur's Gate 3, I'd be totally down with that. I know that had BGEE been available here on GOG, I would have purchased it here rather than Steam, if that's any help.
I honestly don't understand the bashing the Enhanced Edition is getting. So it doesn't do everything all the mods do... so what? The whole point is its a single, concise package that doesn't take any tinkering whatsoever to get running with the improvements it does have, not that its better than every mod ever created. Modders by the luxury of not having to answer to anyone else can mod anything into a game that they'd like to. As for bugs, EVERYTHING has bugs on release, patches are released to resolve them.
I love it when people want to bash other games because they don't want more variety. If you don't like the game, just simply don't buy it. Because it wasn't made in the 90's doesn't mean you can assume it blows.
Also some of the major modders and supporters are already creating mods and supporting the EE's. SCS and Shadow Keeper are already available.
I hope GOG stays away from this atrocity and keeps their old better version
In summary, Beamdog is clearly making "EEs" of the original BG series to fund their ambitious goal of BG3. While there is absolutely nothing wrong with this idea (in fact it's a great idea), the quality of the EEs are rather insulting and inferior to a fully fan-modded version of BG that is already available and FREE.
Even though I bought the complete saga from GOG, I bought the EE on Steam just because (1) I love BG (2) I have OCD and must have a complete colleciton of the things I love and (3) In hopes of BG3.
Although I'm doubtful of the success of BG3 since BG2:TOB IMHO closed off the saga fairly completely (maybe BG3 you will play as a deity and be like Planescape?), the sheer potential was enough for me. And that is really the ONLY real reason to buy the EE. Fan-made bug fixes, companions and graphical enhancements do everything the EE does and arguably more. My modded version of the original BG IMO is far better than the EE and more importantly it was all customed to my tastes and it was all FREE.
So I'm pretty meh about it being on GoG but I'm happy for anything that will spread the glory of BG so I don't care either way. Just some things to consider though.
After seeing what a bug-ridden disaster EE is, does anyone still want this?
As of this post there is only an "Enhanced" version of the first Baldur's Gate game and to be frank it is absolutely a complete rip off. Nothing, I repeat NOTHING is added to the game that a free mod doesn't already do and do better. A complete and total waste of money. While Beamdog is contractually obligated to make an "enhanced" version of the second Baldur's Gate if it is anything like the first I highly discourage people from wasting their time or money on it. Just my 2 cents.
i'll pay for this one!!!
sorry to let you down people but this is just an enhancement of the first baldur's gate.
BG/BG:EE and BGII/BGII:EE on GOG... want it... love it... though I think BGII:EE is not out yet. But yes, bring it on when available... I really look forward to get it from GOG and not other place.
There is room for both a BG/BG:EE and BGII/BGII:EE, much like how RealMyst and Myst: Masterpiece Edition are both on GoG. I sincerely hope Beamdog and Overhaul can work something out to get the game on here.
