Worst games on GoG

GOGmix by venin's avatarvenin 3votes

Jade Empire: Special Edition

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Beginning of the end for Bioware. Stale story, simplistic combat system, basic character archetypes and insults the setting it wants to portray ignoring many of the core themes often found in eastern stories substituting them with western themes.

Sacrifice

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Intriguing concept, but poorly executed and mismarketed. Suffering from the quality dichotomy many games did during the end of the nineties. Polished in some ways while being rough on others. Problem is the rough spots are the missions and UI.

Assassin's Creed®: Director's Cut

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Simplistic gameplay in the campaign, bad AI, and Ubi Soft's checkbox style of game development. Nice theme and setting, but your life is worth more than a bunch of pretty pictures.

Deathtrap Dungeon

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Conceptually a tower filled with (old) Prince of Persia style traps. In reality an ugly awkward game without personality, charm or plot to motivate you forward.

removeupdown

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War

venin's rating:
250

venin says: On its own a broken game with bad mechanics. In the context of the series a disgrace carried by its theme and pedigree.

removeupdown

Far Cry® 2: Fortune's Edition

venin's rating:
250

venin says: A game that's too in love with its setting and concept to worry about gameplay and balance of its mechanics.

removeupdown

I.G.I. 2: Covert Strike

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Tries to make hardcode mil-sim stealth mainsteam. Fails hard.

removeupdown

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2

venin's rating:
250

venin says: The previous game felt like a Metroidvania, 3rd person action game in a dark post-apocalyptic vampire setting. This game feels like Deus Ex 2.

removeupdown

Neverwinter Nights Diamond

venin's rating:
250

venin says: A toolset so user friendly you might as well learn C. ;-) As for the campaign it's boring, bland and clunky. All effects and models are underwhelming and the game feels slow. Even Hordes of the Underdark. Get it for the user content if at all.

removeupdown

Nox™

venin's rating:
250

venin says: This game is like Diablo 1 after only playing Diablo 2.

removeupdown

Beyond Good & Evil™

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Easy open world game with a simplistic plot that ends on a cliff-hanger. This game feels unfinished. Voice acting is good. As for female leads: Urban Chaos, Parasite Eve, Drakan, Giants, Metroid, Oni, Perfect Dark all pre-date this game.

removeupdown

Shadow Man

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Cool setting once again ruined by bad implementation. Much like Sacrifice. Bad controls and questionable design ruin a potentially very fun IP.

removeupdown

Shogo: Mobile Armor Division

venin's rating:
250

venin says: I want to like this game. But aside from the robots its obtuse, bland and short. If you're old enough to have played the demo then you have played about a fifth of the game.

removeupdown

Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator

venin's rating:
250

venin says: A game wanting to ape J-RPGs but with emotionless voice acting, a boring plot and clunky mechanics. The game doesn’t do enough world building to make the world come alive and the characters are too bland to care about.

removeupdown

Slave Zero

venin's rating:
250

venin says: I want a spiritual successor to this. The plot and characters are cartoon-ish, the city feels game-y. Both in a bad way. Being a Slave feels good but development beyond that is non-existent.

removeupdown

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness

venin's rating:
250

venin says: Lara croft in a combination of adventure and action platformer. The adventure part is boring, the platforming part is broken and it's all buggy.

Treat your GOGmix as your child - name it! ;)

Coming up with a cool and descriptive title should be your first priority. Being original is in your best interest - bet you wanna get lots of nice votes, right? Go all crazy if you want, but be sure to keep it civil!

So, what are the ingredients?

Pick a game that belongs in your GOGmix from the list, or find it by typing something in the text field. Relevance is key here - Earthworm Jim doesn't quite fit the "Sexiest heroines of all time" bill now, does it?

Justify your choice... Or not!

OK, so it's not required, but now that you went through the trouble of adding a game, telling everyone why you did it would be a nice finishing touch. After you're done here, add another game, rinse, repeat.
