Longest Journey, The

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: TLJ is one the very few games that actually feels like an adventure. The game takes some time to get going and it can get wordy, but ultimately its lovable cast and its interesting story will keep you enthralled until the credits roll.

removeupdown

Dreamfall: The Longest Journey

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: The sequel to TLJ, Dreamfall is inferior to it in several ways, but its plot and atmosphere are still top-notch and arguably rival its predecessor. It has probably the worst cliffhanger ending ever, but thankfully the sequel will be coming out soon.

removeupdown

Dreamfall Chapters Season Pass

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: While only one episode in, Chapters is already a fantastic third installment in the Longest Journey series. None of the great storytelling has dulled in nearly a decade's absence, its only gotten better. I'm really glad I backed it.

removeupdown

Alan Wake

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Alan Wake is a love letter to horror/thriller fiction mainly to the works of Stephen King and Twin Peaks. While its gameplay is rather lacking it tells its story well and its forested locales are beautiful and foreboding at the same time.

removeupdown

Hotline Miami

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Do you like hurting people? This is the overarching theme to Hotline Miami and is perfectly expressed through its frantic drug-induced fever dream of a tone and style of combat complete with an amazing 80's style soundtrack

Beyond Good & Evil™

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: BGE is a game filled to the brim with charm, creativity, and wonder. The setting is vibrant and and its characters are quirky and likable. Too bad it ends on a huge cliffhanger that may never be resolved. Definitely worth playing regardless.

removeupdown

Anachronox

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Anachronox is practically BGE's RPG cousin. Both games are sci-fi/fantasy, have a lot of charm, unique settings, and some real oddball characters. Anachronox will also probably never get the sequel it deserves and needs.

Blackwell Bundle

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Wadjet Eye Games have made/released a lot of great adventure games recently. The series is mainly about a woman fulfilling her destiny as a spirit medium and the mysteries she uncovers with the help of her ghostly partner. I definitely recommend it.

removeupdown

Primordia

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: The most recent release from Wadjet Eye, Primordia is a great game with quality writing and a great post-apocalyptic atmosphere. I highly recommend it to any adventure game fan.

removeupdown

Resonance

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Another Wadjet Eye Game, Resonance has you lead a group of four unlikely strangers in a quest far bigger than they ever imagined. It ultimately becomes a rather morally gray and bleak affair and its up to you decide the final result.

removeupdown

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Can one change the flow of destiny? The Legacy of Kain series have renowned for their quality writing, voice-acting, and atmosphere and I would have to agree. Kain is also one one the medium's finest antagonists

removeupdown

Deus Ex™ GOTY Edition

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Deus Ex is a classic for a reason. While its plot overall can be rather silly it has some stellar writing at parts and its expansive and immersive game world just begs to be explored and has gone nearly unrivaled more than a decade later.

removeupdown

Pathologic

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Pathologic is a story of spiraling despair and bleak nihilism that can only be told in a game. Despite its deeply flawed gameplay and English translation, Pathologic is a truly unique game that needs to be experienced, even if its the form of an LP.

removeupdown

Sam & Max: The Devil’s Playhouse

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: The first two seasons of Sam and Max are fun games and I also recommend them, but Devil's Playhouse is when Telltale's take on the duo truly shines. The writing and characters are hilarious and there's some unique takes on the gameplay.

removeupdown

Psychonauts

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Double Fine's first game is a beloved classic with a cartoony aesthetic and some real attention to detail when it comes to interactions with the cast of wacky characters. Each mindscape is just chock full of surreal whimsy and charm.

removeupdown

Planescape: Torment

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: I think you all had your fill of Torment gushing. But Torment truly is a testament to how games can be a serious and unique story-telling medium. There is very few games where I can say that the ending was truly satisfying, Torment is one of them.

removeupdown

Stacking

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: One of Double Fine's more recent games, Stacking is extremely charming from its Russian stacking doll people, to its silent movie cut-scenes, and fantastical Victorian/turn of the 20th Century aesthetic. Its guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

removeupdown

To The Moon

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: To the Moon tells a quality story though its light on gameplay. It's not perfect, the scientists are rather annoying due to being forced and kind of ruin the tone, but ultimately its a touching game when it matters and its worth checking out.

removeupdown

Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings, The - ...

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Witcher 2 has an interesting world that isn't difficult to get into It also manages to have two major branching story paths and is one of the few games where choosing to not fight the final boss felt far more fulfilling than doing so.

Zap_Rowsdower says: To be expanded on once I'm done with it.

removeupdown

Waking Mars

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Waking Mars is a non-combat focused Metroidvania where you have to bring life back to Mars. The atmosphere is really nice and the characters and their dialogue are well-written and likable. It's a game that avoids the usual norms of the medium.

removeupdown

Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: The Gabriel Knight series stands as some of the most well written games in the medium. Jane Jensen put in a lot of passion and research that very few modern games can top and is one of the reasons why the series is so memorable even two decades later

removeupdown

Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: GK2 is one of the very few quality games to come out of the 90's FMV Craze. GK2 is as well written and researched as the first and Jensen' passion for the material shines though making GK2 an engaging game despite any shortcomings FMV could bring.

removeupdown

Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred...

removeupdown

Broken Sword: Director's Cut

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Broken Sword is a nicely written globe-trotting adventure tale where even minor NPCS have character to them. While I don't think it really rivals Gabriel Knight or Longest Journey, Broken Sword is still a great adventure well worth playing.

Clive Barker's Undying

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: While it's aged some, Undying still has a really good atmosphere. The final boss is awful just as a heads up and I had to use God Mode to beat it. Overall still a good game.

removeupdown

Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Under A Killing Moon hasn't aged well at all and you will most likely need to play with a guide, but the writing is top notch cheese and it has a really nice sci-fi noir atmosphere.

removeupdown

Kentucky Route Zero Season Pass

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: While KRZ is less than halfway finished right now, its still one of the best games I've ever played. Beautifully surreal and imaginatively written, KRZ just sucks you right in. A must play for those who want quality storytelling in their games.

removeupdown

Pillars of Eternity: Hero Edition

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet

Zap_Rowsdower says: Obsidian proves why they're one of the best WRPG devs around. Eternity has an interesting world and while the characters aren't as developed as they could be they're still fun. A must play for RPG fans.

removeupdown

Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, The

removeupdown

Gone Home

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: If you loved the environmental storytelling of games like Riven and Bioshock than this game is for you. Gone Home has a real sense of down to earth humanity and combined with its contemplative atmosphere makes it a game that can stick with you.

removeupdown

Her Story

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Her Story is one of the finest detective games ever made and is a fantastic example of how video games can tell a story as well as how FMV can still be relevant. A must play for adventure game fans and hopefully an inspiration for more games to come.

removeupdown

Walking Dead: Season 1, The

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: What I think to be one of the greatest games of all time, TWD helped to resurrect the adventure game genre with its mix of roleplaying, well-written characters, and horror. TWD will make you care for its cast and by the end you won't soon forget it.

removeupdown

Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: While Returns was fun, Dragonfall is a humongous improvement and is one of the best RPGs in years. Everything about this game is really polished with fun combat, quality writing, roleplaying, and a great cyberpunk atmosphere.

removeupdown

Shadowrun: Hong Kong

D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die - Season One

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: SWERY's newest game, D4 is just as bonkers as its predecessor, Deadly Premontion. With its cast of weirdos, legit fun QTE sequences, fantastic soundtrack, and its great sense of humor D4 is a great game for those searching for something off-beat.

removeupdown

Shovel Knight

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Unlike many other indie games Shovel Knight perfectly captures the atmosphere of an NES platformer while its having its own identity and it has some funny snappy writing. Combined with fun gameplay makes Shovel Knight a great ride.

removeupdown

A Golden Wake

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Golden Wake is a bit weaker than some of the other WadjetEye game but its still got a great 1920's aesthetic and overall definitely worth playing.

removeupdown

Gray Matter

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet

Zap_Rowsdower says: Gray Matter is a beautiful game with great setting and soundtrack. Sam and Doc Styles are likable protagonists and Jane Jensen's penchant for really delving into the history of a setting is all here.

Bastion

removeupdown

Riven: The Sequel to Myst

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: While I would never play it myself due its to fiendish puzzles after watching an LP I still have a lot of respect for Riven. It's penchant for environmental storytelling has few rivals even twenty years later and it crafts an interesting world.

removeupdown

Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut

Zap_Rowsdower's rating:
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: DP is like a Dreamcast game that came out ten years too late. DP is a charming as hell game with really likable characters and genuine humor. And when the game gets dark it actually works because you care about the characters. Also dat whistle theme.

removeupdown

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: An oppressive and desolate game, STALKER is well known for its ominous atmosphere. While it can be pretty impenetrable unmodded, there are fan mods that make it less brutally unforgiving, but even on Easy the foolhardy will not last long in The Zone.

removeupdown

STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Repub...

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: Pretty much the only great thing to come out of the EU, Obsidian does a great job making a unique and morally grey Star Wars story. Also has one of the best antagonists in a video game period.

removeupdown

Shadow Warrior (2013)

Zap_Rowsdower's rating: not rated yet
250

Zap_Rowsdower says: You wouldn't think an FPS like Shadow Warrior would be here but it actually has surprisingly solid writing for an FPS, its not deep but its funny and it has genuine character development. It also doesn't hurt that the game is a blast to play.

Treat your GOGmix as your child - name it! ;)

Coming up with a cool and descriptive title should be your first priority. Being original is in your best interest - bet you wanna get lots of nice votes, right? Go all crazy if you want, but be sure to keep it civil!

So, what are the ingredients?

Pick a game that belongs in your GOGmix from the list, or find it by typing something in the text field. Relevance is key here - Earthworm Jim doesn't quite fit the "Sexiest heroines of all time" bill now, does it?

Justify your choice... Or not!

OK, so it's not required, but now that you went through the trouble of adding a game, telling everyone why you did it would be a nice finishing touch. After you're done here, add another game, rinse, repeat.
