Zap_Rowsdower says: TLJ is one the very few games that actually feels like an adventure. The game takes some time to get going and it can get wordy, but ultimately its lovable cast and its interesting story will keep you enthralled until the credits roll.
Zap_Rowsdower says: The sequel to TLJ, Dreamfall is inferior to it in several ways, but its plot and atmosphere are still top-notch and arguably rival its predecessor. It has probably the worst cliffhanger ending ever, but thankfully the sequel will be coming out soon.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Alan Wake is a love letter to horror/thriller fiction mainly to the works of Stephen King and Twin Peaks. While its gameplay is rather lacking it tells its story well and its forested locales are beautiful and foreboding at the same time.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Do you like hurting people? This is the overarching theme to Hotline Miami and is perfectly expressed through its frantic drug-induced fever dream of a tone and style of combat complete with an amazing 80's style soundtrack
Zap_Rowsdower says: BGE is a game filled to the brim with charm, creativity, and wonder. The setting is vibrant and and its characters are quirky and likable. Too bad it ends on a huge cliffhanger that may never be resolved. Definitely worth playing regardless.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Anachronox is practically BGE's RPG cousin. Both games are sci-fi/fantasy, have a lot of charm, unique settings, and some real oddball characters. Anachronox will also probably never get the sequel it deserves and needs.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Wadjet Eye Games have made/released a lot of great adventure games recently. The series is mainly about a woman fulfilling her destiny as a spirit medium and the mysteries she uncovers with the help of her ghostly partner. I definitely recommend it.
Zap_Rowsdower says: The most recent release from Wadjet Eye, Primordia is a great game with quality writing and a great post-apocalyptic atmosphere. I highly recommend it to any adventure game fan.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Another Wadjet Eye Game, Resonance has you lead a group of four unlikely strangers in a quest far bigger than they ever imagined. It ultimately becomes a rather morally gray and bleak affair and its up to you decide the final result.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Can one change the flow of destiny? The Legacy of Kain series have renowned for their quality writing, voice-acting, and atmosphere and I would have to agree. Kain is also one one the medium's finest antagonists
Zap_Rowsdower says: Deus Ex is a classic for a reason. While its plot overall can be rather silly it has some stellar writing at parts and its expansive and immersive game world just begs to be explored and has gone nearly unrivaled more than a decade later.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Pathologic is a story of spiraling despair and bleak nihilism that can only be told in a game. Despite its deeply flawed gameplay and English translation, Pathologic is a truly unique game that needs to be experienced, even if its the form of an LP.
Zap_Rowsdower says: The first two seasons of Sam and Max are fun games and I also recommend them, but Devil's Playhouse is when Telltale's take on the duo truly shines. The writing and characters are hilarious and there's some unique takes on the gameplay.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Double Fine's first game is a beloved classic with a cartoony aesthetic and some real attention to detail when it comes to interactions with the cast of wacky characters. Each mindscape is just chock full of surreal whimsy and charm.
Zap_Rowsdower says: I think you all had your fill of Torment gushing. But Torment truly is a testament to how games can be a serious and unique story-telling medium. There is very few games where I can say that the ending was truly satisfying, Torment is one of them.
Zap_Rowsdower says: One of Double Fine's more recent games, Stacking is extremely charming from its Russian stacking doll people, to its silent movie cut-scenes, and fantastical Victorian/turn of the 20th Century aesthetic. Its guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Zap_Rowsdower says: To the Moon tells a quality story though its light on gameplay. It's not perfect, the scientists are rather annoying due to being forced and kind of ruin the tone, but ultimately its a touching game when it matters and its worth checking out.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Scratches is a game dripping with atmosphere. Unlike a good chunk of horror games it doesn't use any cheap jump scares, but instead maintains a looming feeling of ominous dread throughout
Zap_Rowsdower says: Witcher 2 has an interesting world that isn't difficult to get into It also manages to have two major branching story paths and is one of the few games where choosing to not fight the final boss felt far more fulfilling than doing so.
Zap_Rowsdower says: To be expanded on once I'm done with it.
Zap_Rowsdower says: Waking Mars is a non-combat focused Metroidvania where you have to bring life back to Mars. The atmosphere is really nice and the characters and their dialogue are well-written and likable. It's a game that avoids the usual norms of the medium.
Zap_Rowsdower says: The Gabriel Knight series stands as some of the most well written games in the medium. Jane Jensen put in a lot of passion and research that very few modern games can top and is one of the reasons why the series is so memorable even two decades later
Zap_Rowsdower says: GK2 is one of the very few quality games to come out of the 90's FMV Craze. GK2 is as well written and researched as the first and Jensen' passion for the material shines though making GK2 an engaging game despite any shortcomings FMV could bring.
Zap_Rowsdower says: To be expanded on once I'm done with it.
Treat your GOGmix as your child - name it! ;)
Coming up with a cool and descriptive title should be your first priority. Being original is in your best interest - bet you wanna get lots of nice votes, right? Go all crazy if you want, but be sure to keep it civil!
So, what are the ingredients?
Pick a game that belongs in your GOGmix from the list, or find it by typing something in the text field. Relevance is key here - Earthworm Jim doesn't quite fit the "Sexiest heroines of all time" bill now, does it?
Justify your choice... Or not!
OK, so it's not required, but now that you went through the trouble of adding a game, telling everyone why you did it would be a nice finishing touch. After you're done here, add another game, rinse, repeat.
