marlowespade says: Not an adventure game, but the production values are suprisingly high, and if the acting is sub-par, they're not exactly delivering Shakespeare anyway. Special mention to Ev Lunning's over-the-top portrayal of Gen. Maxis and Marco Perella's Weasel.
marlowespade says: A real script, with real actors! This ranks among the best the FMV genre ever produced, with Dean Erickson (Gabriel) and Peter Lucas (Baron Von Glower) standing out. Staging, music, sets, story - all top-notch. A boffo adventure game.
marlowespade says: This game has a ton of FMV but nothing interesting to do with any of it - lots of backtracking between the (lovely) photo backdrops, but the game itself is dull, the acting is pretty bad, and the story is as predictable as the alphabet.
marlowespade says: An attempt at a more "adult" FMV game, excellent visuals and production too - but the story takes a turn at the corner of 5th and Bonkers at the end, ruining any mystery or interest. Puzzles are on the ridiculous side, even for the adventure gen
marlowespade says: Borderline use of FMV - but notable for the older brother from Wonder Years (Jason Hervey) as the Troll King and Flash Gordon (Sam Jones) as the Blind Bowman. Not a great game, but depending on your nostalgia for all things GUE, YMMV. Want some rye?
marlowespade says: Makes the leap from digitized actors in MS and Martian Memorandum to FMV here, and the result is a compelling new style of adventure game. Chris Jones (Tex) is serviceable, and Margot Kidder (Waitress) is just looney. Good, but better to come.
marlowespade says: The second FMV Tex adventure - and wowsers, this one's a beaut. Right up there with Beast Within, and improves on UAKM in every way. Kevin McCarthy and Barry Corbin are terrific, and Chris Jones got a lot better at acting between this and UAKM.
marlowespade says: People were disappointed that the plot of Overseer was just Mean Streets retold, and that's understandable. However, the FMV production values are top-notch here, and if the game feels too much like UAKM and TPD, I'm all for more of a good thing.
marlowespade says: It's an adventure game, it's got actors, it's got puzzles... but it ain't Zork. Far too serious and oddly devoid of humor, it's just... there. The FMV is forgettable, the script is bog-standard fantasy hero-ing right down to the 4 elements theme.
Treat your GOGmix as your child - name it! ;)
Coming up with a cool and descriptive title should be your first priority. Being original is in your best interest - bet you wanna get lots of nice votes, right? Go all crazy if you want, but be sure to keep it civil!
So, what are the ingredients?
Pick a game that belongs in your GOGmix from the list, or find it by typing something in the text field. Relevance is key here - Earthworm Jim doesn't quite fit the "Sexiest heroines of all time" bill now, does it?
Justify your choice... Or not!
OK, so it's not required, but now that you went through the trouble of adding a game, telling everyone why you did it would be a nice finishing touch. After you're done here, add another game, rinse, repeat.
