I'm sorry, but this game was such a huuuuge letdown. It looks quite good with its handdrawn and detailed backgrounds and the fluid animations of Lilly. The demo was also quite nice. The finished product, sadly, is way way way too short. The game has only 10 screens and in these 10 screens almost all the puzzles are too easy since often times there are only 2-3 points you can clickread more anyway. The one elaborate colour puzzle is reused thrice and not even very good.
The creators raised almost double of what they asked for on Kickstarter and still this game just finishes without any storyline and still manages to end on a cliffhanger without any hint on continuation.
The goggles could have made for some great time puzzles but they are terribly underused. No wonder, since this game is SO SHORT. It is an unfinished (not even started, really) product trying to bring in some money. This could/should have been so much more.
Oh, and the announcement on Kickstarter that they translated the game into many different languages? Yeah, there's no text except for "Quit Yes/No", so.... wait to get this in the obligatory Humble Bundle somewhere down the road. And don't expect anything, maybe then the disappointment won't be so hard on you.

I supported this game on Kickstarter as I appreciated the charm, the childlike sense of wonder and the wonderful music of the demo. So while Lilly Looking Through does indeed contain the elements I pledged for, I am sorry to say that it ultimately disappoints.
One of the biggest criticisms raised against Lilly is its short length. Now, I generally do not consider that to be detrimentalread more to the quality of the game. Unfortunately, the limited number of screens, combined with reused puzzles, makes the game suffer. It also repeats some of the classic adventure game mistakes, but fortunately there are few hot points and no inventory. Furthermore, some of the puzzles are needlessly obtuse, as the game does not always indicate what effect your action had on other elements, leading to second-guessing. While these flaws could ultimately be forgiven, the shortness of the game makes them stick out even further. The fact that the time-jumping goggles were not used to full effect also leaves much to be desired.
Regardless of what that has just been said, the game is an enjoyable short romp. If you have children or just like the warm atmosphere that it offers, then Lilly Looking Through comes highly recommended as you will enjoy the wonderful world Lilly inhabits. Nevertheless, I cannot recommend buying this game at full price. I realise that this is doing a disfavour to the creators, however for something that is more like a Flash game in the vein of Samorost, it does not warrant the cost.

By now, everyone knows: "Lilly Looking Through" is charming, beautifully animated, and very fluid. The music has an ethereal quality that doesn't distract. In a nice touch, as you put on or remove the time-changing goggles the music changes too, depending on which "time" you're in.
Everyread more Indie game is a labor of love, but this one feels so much more so, and so special (even to the point of being developed and voiced by a family) that it really does pain me that I can't recommend it at full price. Yes, it's obvious a lot of work went into it. Yes, I hate myself a little. However, how do we learn, grow, and improve, if not from our mistakes? How will we ever know about those mistakes if people constantly bury the truth in favor of praise for our hard work? I'd rather have a constructive criticism than an insincere "attaboy" any day.
With that in mind, here's the game as I see it: "Lilly" is incredibly short (only a bit over two hours), with repetitive puzzles and a cliffhanger ending that reveals some structural flaws. The first hour was such a joy; unfortunately, the game's short play time, repetitiveness, and ending completely undermined that joy.
