Overview:

Incredipede is a puzzle game that celebrates the vast diversity of life in the world. Follow the adventures of Quozzle, a lone Incredipede on a quest to rescue her sisters. She has a unique ability to grow new arms and legs wherever she needs them, transforming into a snake, a spider, a horse, a monkey - anything you can imagine. You can give her antlers or a tail, use nature as a blueprint or strike out in weird new directions. Control Quozzle as she learns to swing through the trees, climb sheer cliffs, dance over rivers of lava, and even soar through the air on thermal winds.

Incredipede features 60 levels in three beautifully crafted worlds. The first world introduces placing muscles and controlling Quozzle using the keyboard. Futher worlds give you full control over Quozzle's limbs, as you stretch her into new shapes to better navigate her surroundings. Long arms can reach up high to grab ledges, while many feet make for faster crossing over dangerous terrain. It doesn't end there. Use the level editor to create your own puzzles, or challenge others to control your Quozzle designs to the finish line. Browse user-made levels and creatures, and experience the vast diversity of human creativity.

I really wanted to love this title..

The art is beautiful, as is the story of the team that made this game. Quite honestly, it's almost enough. I played through this game extensively, enjoying the music, visual style and for a large part, the game play.
However, it becomes obvious after a while that true strategy in solving these puzzles is a little tougher to come by. It may be me, but I never felt like I wasread more growing with the complexity of the game. When I solved puzzles it often felt like luck rather than skill.
Despite this there is a fantastic online system in which you can view other people's solutions. The community for Incredipede is very connected and active, and this is a nice thing.
I really like this game, but I felt it was playing me more than I was playing it.

A charming puzzler with a unusual mechanic

The graphics and music really aren't bad, and haven't annoyed me after a solid hour of play like some nameless games.
The mechanics of legs and muscles driving your movement are relatively simple, a single leg and a muscle and you're essentially operating a piston with the head/eye forming the pivot point, or you might use a stiff leg as a body for multiple legs to drive your motion, read more hooks to catch hanging points, etc.
Difficulty is not too intense to begin with which given the fact there's so many potential solutions to the problems is really a good thing since you can try multiple solutions to minimize your leg and muscle use, and/or time taken to beat each level.
All in all it's been fun to play, and I know it'll drive my kids nuts in days to come.

A simple yet brilliand idea carried out just perfect!

Posted on 2013-06-15 19:18:40 byIWantSunshine's avatarIWantSunshine:

This is a unique game that based on a simple yet brilliant idea. It mixes logic/puzzle with patience/action at a gracefully elegant way. Basically you have a being that you can attach as many limbs and muscles as you want. You can make two groups of the muscles later on. Then you control your creature using just four (or even just two) keyboard buttons to solve various challengesread more at various levels. Very often it is harder than it looks! It is very addictive: first you play the normal level, where you have pre-made creature you "only" need to control. Then you play the hard level, where you have to design your own creature. Then you play other players creatures and levels that are shared online. Then you start creating your own levels and creature and share them online. The game comes with a surprisingly easy-to-master level editor. The entire game is very nice in terms of graphics, it has a unique style. Gameplay is brilliant. The whole idea is unique and unlike anything else you've seen. I can only highly recommend this game. And if you have any laptop, even one with Intel GMA video chipset, it will still nicely run. (Not sure about netbooks though). Give it a try. There are plenty level/creature videos on YouTube if you curious to find out what you can expect. 5/5.
