Frustrated Gamer
I initially reviewed this game critically and had it refunded, as I had brought the game for the family and no one in the family enjoyed it. However I was mistaken. While the older kids in my household did not enjoy it, my youngest had enjoyed it, and upon discovering my actions promptly asked me to rebuy the game as soon as it went back on sale. The following review is in their words: "I liked that it had a bunch of games, and a bunch of adventures. I like that I could enjoy some of the lands. The thing I did not like about it that was very upsetting were the lamps, when you try to turn it on the second light or press E twice, the lamp starts flashing many colours, unable to turn both lamps on." Perhaps it is not immediately clear to them that the lamps are a puzzle that need to be solved - something that should be made more clearer in the game if this is so. PROS -Cute animations and world -Cozy environment -Auto-detect graphics was great -Plays well on low-end laptops -Has minigames -A bunch of adventures to explore. -Engaging for younger audiences CONS -Difficult to play minigames -Some puzzles may be hard for younger audiences to solve -Non-intuitive - lots of reading required to understand -Minigames were frustrating and not fun -Not engaging for a family with different age groups The animations and trailers reminded us of Pokemon snap mixed with Viva Pinata, the gameplay was not nearly as fun or engaging as we would have expected, but the youngest among us enjoyed it. Most of us found the game non-engaging, with frustrating mini-games that were time-limited and difficult to aim or execute the precision they required. Having to read to understand where to go next was difficult as we like to just jump right in and be able to play, and did not feel we could. However, the youngest quickly adapted and revealed there was a whole world to explore that the rest of us didn't understand. They gave the game 5 stars, I docked a star for our own experience.
