I heard about this game via Cyan emails as I am a big fan of Myst and Obduction and have backed Firmament. So I looked at this game’s Kickstarter page where it said:

“Find hints in the most unlikely places, it takes observational skills to solve the many puzzles. Take note of everything - curiously chipped bricks, graffiti, scratched esoteric symbols on the walkways… even the most obscure drawing could change the course of your adventure! But beware - the Dreamer knows you’re there and while he may help at times, he can also stand in your way.”

I thought YES this is my type of game, so I looked forward to the release and bought it... but there are no puzzles. Did I miss something? Was there an announcement that this wasn’t the game anymore? Because I kind of feel I’ve been mis-sold this game. The artwork is beautiful and the story is quite touching, but I was expecting more judging by the description. It’s just walking around cool environments picking stuff up in terms of gameplay. Also as I said in my review it makes me feel very motion sick sadly (Myst and Obduction didn’t).

I don’t want to sound too negative because I love Cyan and all they do and this game is a showcase of digital art, but they should have changed the description on Kickstarter in my opinion.

Hi there, zoejh777,

Thanks for checking out the game, we really appreciate it. Over the years this game took to develop, we've discussed several times ways in which ZED has changed from the initial vision to be a bit more in-line with Chuck's vision for the story. Chuck recently posted a video which we shared in a Kickstarter update:

https://vimeo.com/337624793

While we recognize that ZED relies less heavily on puzzles than initially intended and this is a turn-off for some people, we believe this makes the game more accessible and we've worked hard on crafting what we believe is a unique and meaningful experience we hope people will enjoy. We've had tremendously positive feedback from the people who have completed the story.

Thanks again for sharing this feedback; I hope you enjoyed the experience nonetheless.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I guess as a non-backer I missed this kind of update, I should have dug harder for the info! Never mind. I will take it for what it is and wait until Firmament for some more puzzles. Well done on some great art.
