It ruined the fun for me. I was more than happy to fight the strongest boss from Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim, but the merciless grind ruined all the fun.

How I'm supposed to level up from 50 to 56-60 by killing mobs? I get ONE freakin' exp from them, ONE!

Then I just tried to face him although I was still 50 and with the weapons maxed, emel equipment, and guess what? ZERO damage.

I really don't understand what the devs have thought back then.
At least in the PS2 version you could still get a few levels through Alma's Trials, and in the PSP version you could keep repeating the Sealed Cavern until you had a high enough level, getting one level each time.

But it seems the PC release has no such option.

Alma's Trials? Repeating Sealed cavern? Is that extra content?

In the PS2 version you could use the feather item to escape dungeons and do Alma's Trials.
In the PSP version to could enter the repeatable Sealed Cavern through the shrine in the village to get your choice of gold, emel or a level-up.

It seems those modes were exclusive to those versions, though, and I've found nothing like them in the PC version.

Ah I see, thanks for the explanation.

That's a shame, In the end I just fought the final boss and I think I'll move to Oath in Felghana, I don't really have the time to grinds thousands of exp 1 by 1; still that left a sour taste in my mouth...
In the PS2 version, Alma's Trials aren't good for reaching high levels. You can choose experience as a reward, but the amount decays with your level, so at high levels you will only get 1 XP, which is much slower than just killing enemies for 1 XP each. Also, the trials are not repeatable.

Incidentally, Alma's Trials consist of lots of platforming, far more than you see otherwise in the game, and feature an orchestral soundtrack, in sharp contrast to the rest of the game.

With that said, the PS2 version does let you fight this boss in boss rush (at level 60), and there's a cheat in the PS2 version that lets you start the game at level 60.

Wait, isn't Time attack the same thing (speaking of fighting bosses and lv 60)?
Yeah, I tried leveling up to fight him too, I stopped because I wasn't gonna waste my time like that. With that said, if you want to fight him, do Catastrophe mode. In that mode later in the game the shop sells those stat boosting seeds indefinitely. So you can farm those in order to fight Majuunun.

How is the price for each of them? I'm not sure though, I have already moved to felghana.

I don't know myself, but according to someone on steam it is 25000 per seed.

Does it depend on the difficulty? I remember that, in the PS2 version, the HP boosting seeds were more expensive on the harder difficulties (as were the final sword upgrades).

Again, not sure, but on Nightmare + Catastrophe mode I think Vitality seeds are 200k, and Power/Defense seeds are 25k

I see, thanks. I'm not sure how much money can be done on catastrophe mode on normal, but i believe at this point all that matters is to find a place in which you can gather money easier.
