As multiplayer isn't included for this release I'd be interested to know why the Linux build of the game isn't included and whether it will be in the future.

I wish multiplayer were included.
I came here to ask for the Linux version as well. Am more than willing to spend money on a DRM free copy of a game I already own but not if it doesn't include a Linux version. I know the issue is going to be that Feral made the Linux version and I know they don't have any plans to support any DRM free releases so more than likely were screwed but I'll still make my voice heard.

While we - in general - don't know the intricacies of the contract between 2k, Fireaxis and Feral as 3rd party contractor and yes, it's known that Feral has their own shop, but as a 3rd party contractor they shouldn't have a veto in that matter, IMO. If Fireaxis & 2k decide to publicise their product on GOG it's - for me - a situation where it goes like: "2K: 'Jump.' - Feral: 'How high?'"

Sorry to put it so bluntly but they are contractor, full stop.

I agree with you on how it should work. History doesn't appear to be on our side though. 2K didn't seem to care about putting the Mac version of Mafia III that Aspyr did or the Mac version of Mafia II that Feral did on GOG.

+1 for the linux version (multiplayer is optional)
I bought it already but I too hope for the Linux version.
Not holding my breath though, it seems Feral has the rights to port and publish. They probably don't need to provide their version to the original pusblisher.
I was going to buy this but held back when I realized it did not include the Linux version.

I'll avoid a long rant, but I feel if I continue to support the Windows ecosystem*, I implicitly support Windows and MS, and by extension their policies towards privacy. No thank you.

*For newer games I mean - post Win 10.

Well I will not buy this game as long as I can't have a Linux version.

I'm sick and tired of Windows and the argument that Linux "is a fringe market".

Well it will remain a fringe market if GOG doesn't get their act together (like Steam) and doesn't release a steady stream of games and that with their QOL Galaxy client for it (I have no problem working on the terminal and as such lgogdownloader, but Linux is my day job!). And yes I love my QOL as well. I mean my Linux distribution has a package manager, and doesn't require me to get everthing in source and compile it myself.

I don't know what Feral and GOG think. And while I like Feral's work, I don't like their attitude. Especially as they expressed here on GOL .. I mean "our games"? WTF?! Guys most the stuff you do is contractor work, the IP (I don't like this word, because it's conglomerates 5 things into one) the IP is NOT YOURS, Feral.

And GOG doesn't seem to understand that they are on borrowed time. Two terms: "Windows Store" and "Software as a Service"... MS ain't your firends, mates. You ain't in their club and playing nice well: "The road to hell is paved with good intentions." as they say. Oh they have Azure Linux distribution now, they are Linux friendly, they are developer firendly, they just said so after buying Github. My a*se. They haven't show one iota of prove they can be trusted. Look into the 90's and 00's ... they haven't changed, they've got just more insidious.

I'm often disappointed if I read that a game that interests me is getting ported to Linux by Feral. While a Linux version is great in principle, I don't want to give them any money. They seem to be a horrible arrogant bunch of people that work in a way that I consider problematic.

Outsourcing a port is okay, as long as it gets updated in house! That way everyone (even the players using other operation systems) can benefit from the changes, as even compiling on other platforms can show programming mistakes. And Feral prevents that.

Another problem is bankruptcy. Think Loki. I have several games that have not been updated after the Windows version got a new patch because the original developers do not have the source code of the Linux version.
Hello everyone !

Thank you for your posts, I was looking for this kind of stuff. Unfortunately GOG doesn't sell the Linux version, because of Feral, right ?

But I looooooooooove this game so much, I spent days on it (a friend of mine lent it to me on Steam). So what is the best option if I don't want to wait for Feral to change its mind, in terms of privacy, liberty, etc ?

1 - buy a DRM-free game on GOG and play it on Windows (but now I don't want to use it anymore :/ )

2 - buy a DRM game on Steam and play it on Linux

Difficult choice in fact...

LeviBanjo: ....

2 - buy a DRM game on Steam and play it on Linux
you forgot a third choice:

3 - Play the DRM free from GoG on Linux with Wine or other Windows replacement ...

I bought the originals EU + EW but I started to play them when the Linux version came out on Steam. Now, I bought the GoG version and I am playing EW on Play on Linux with Wine 3.20. It does not seems to crash as often then the Steam version!

On another subject, any one is thinking that Valve paid good money to the creators AND the porter, demanding EXCLUSIVITY for the StemOS/Linux Version, or even keeping the right/port for them?
Like the previous posters, I too was initially going to buy this again for a DRM-free copy of the game, but was put off by the lack of Linux support.
We should try contacting Feral Interactive (they made the linux version) to remind them that the Linux version is still missing from Gog. I will contact them today, since I tried to install the windows version via Gamehub and it didn't work.

edit: I did it. You can send a request for the Linux version here

The native Linux version would be highly appreciated.
I am not really fond of having to resort to tricks like Wine / Wine+Tricks / Wine+ Lutris, VMs, Dualboot or any other means.
