I bought Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, and I have both the standard edition and the German Edition. Is it the same for anyone else?

Yes it is.

You have the original, too. If you installed the game with Galaxy, in the game page, look at the top buttons in the center. The left one with two diamonds is used to change version. I'm not sure if you have to check it before installing, though, or if also works after installing.

But why is this done with New Colossus, and not the others. Why make the german version available to begin with?

I am so unbelievably happy that both are available.

I live in Germany and any WW2 related game is available only in German with all the Swastikas hidden.

German government doesn't like when you shoot Nazis. That's why they need to hide all the Swastikas and other Nazi symbols from the enemy. And the language is only available in German. I am sorry, but even if I am ok with having some weird flux capacitor logo instead of a Swastika (I don't really care one way or another), I will not play a WW2 related game where my side speaks German.

My only install option is the German edition. Can't install the English one. I don't have the install button enabled.

Luckily GOG offers offline install file so I am now downloading the offline files in English and hopefully I can install a version where I play as Allied, not Axis.

Just ignore the German version. It's going to be censored and only in German. At least you don't have to download the English version manually.

Probably legal things. In Germany it used to be illegal to show Nazi symbols, even if it is in negative light. So all WW2 games are censored here. The law changed and now some are allowed. But there's still these censored versions.

Because it is now allowed, the newer games might be kind of available in other languages as well. We can use GOG Galaxy to download the German version, but if both versions are technically available for everyone, gamers in Germany can download the uncensored version manually.

Most likely the older games have just German and no possibility to download the English version. German for Germans and English for others. I've had that for example with Medal of Honor: Airborne.

So this might be a legal trick so we here in Germany can play a version where the good guys are not speaking German. But now you have to look at that free version on your list. And I can see the version I want, but can only download the offline files. Sucks for both of us.

Oh you have the German version of The New Order as well, look at the screenshot. It's just not an extra entry in your library. I don't know why they did it this way with The New Colossus.
