I wasn't even able to install the game because Bitdefender is flagging the exe's (and some .tmp files) as viruses.

After I disabled it, I was able to install but am now having windows issues where I lost ownership on my Root C drive. Something very weird is going on here.

Anyone else encounter this?
The prophecy.exe detections are based on generic heuristics rather than specific handling of a known malicious executable structure. This is probably a side-effect of whatever GOG had to do to remove the retail copy protection. When a file is detected incorrectly you can submit it for review; for Bitdefender this is Sample or URL Submit.

As for the restrictions issue that depends on what you're meaning. Some special system drive folders are locked on Vista and newer by default (e.g. PerfLogs); there's generally no reason to override that.

I mean I'm getting an error when trying to create/copy a file into my Root C saying I don't have ownership of it. I have ownership of every other folder just not root C:

The weird/annoying thing is, that I formatted and reinstalled my windows 8.1 but I STILL don't have access to my root C. Never seen this before. No idea how to fix either :(

until the recent upgrade patch of that game I have had my ethernet completely disalbed. the driver had ot be reinstalled via the DVD-ROM it came with. they recently updated WCP the fiile in quesiotn was the .exe used to run the game. I had removed it via Avast! and after reinstalling windows I again removed it wiht Hitman Pro thinking Avast was FP'ing the file again th ethernet dropped out and the driver and its files could not be reinstalled(without the Asus support DVD-Rom)
mobo Asus Maximus Extreme VI ethernet built in(wired connection).
but the new update(only changed to add Itallian language) seemed to fix all versions of the game's .exe to run

in the future, GOG needs to take more care in how(and where) it finds the game files to dump on its server to us the paying customers.
